Pulisic injury Atalanta

Bianchin: Pulisic will miss Red Star clash and Genoa is ‘at serious risk’ – the latest

Christian Pulisic was forced to leave AC Milan’s clash against Atalanta after just 35 minutes due to an injury last night. As per the latest reports, the American will definitely miss the mid-week Champions League clash, which is a blow.

After a challenge on the right flank, Pulisic halted play and got treatment from the medical staff. However, it became clear pretty quickly that he wouldn’t be able to continue, and Paulo Fonseca decided to sub on Ruben Loftus-Cheek in his place.

According to Luca Bianchin, Pulisic will definitely miss the Red Star Belgrade clash on Wednesday due to the injury of his left calf. There will be an MRI scan on Monday to determine the extent of the injury, but the Genoa clash next Sunday is also ‘at serious risk’.

After Genoa, Milan will be up against Hellas Verona and just like yesterday’s game, it’s scheduled for a Friday evening. This means that Pulisic could potentially miss three games, should the scan deliver negative news for the Rossoneri.

It remains to be seen if Fonseca will opt for Samuel Chukwueze or Loftus-Cheek in the American’s absence. With Yunus Musah on the pitch, going with the Englishman might be a tad too defensive, as shown by the second-half stats yesterday.

  1. The season is over anyway. Give more rest to the tired, key players, so that they wouldn’t suffer major injuries. Camarda, Zeroli, Jimenez, Bartesaghi should play more often.

  2. Both Atalanta goals were scored on free kicks. Maddening. Neither Theo nor Emerson are playing at the defensive level the team needs. Theo misplayed a ball in the last few minutes that could have made it 3-1.

  3. Pulisic was the one player that Milan could not afford to lose. Not sure why Fonseca brought him on during the cup game. Hopefully it’s not serious and he will only miss one game.

  4. Why was he brought on at half time in the coppa italia game?
    They were leading 4-0.
Decisions like that lead to him being over worked and getting a muscle strain

  5. He got kicked hard in the calf. Not convinced this is an overuse injury. Also no foul was called or yellow given for a blatant kick of the player. Not an excuse, but the refereeing was suspect yesterday.

    1. Exactly. If we were ever going to lose him, NOW was the perfect time. Well, maybe half an hour later after he would have scored or assisted the winner for Milan but you know what I mean. 😀
