Biasin claims Milan ‘have an alternative’ midfield target to Fofana

By Euan Burns -

Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin has claimed that AC Milan have an alternative target to Youssouf Fofana in mind if they cannot sign the AS Monaco midfielder.

Speaking to TMW (via Milan News), Biasin explained that there is another name on the list of midfield targets that Milan view as being the same profile as Fofana.

The Rossoneri are incredibly keen on signing the Frenchman but Monaco now want €35m in the face of more concrete interest from Premier League side Manchester United.

The name in question is already very familiar to Milan fans, as it is Adrien Rabiot. He is no longer on the books at Juventus and has been linked with Milan already this summer, but is not a priority.

If a deal proves impossible for Fofana, Rabiot could be where Milan turns.

The main problem with signing Rabiot is that his mother, who is also his agent, is expected to demand a huge figure when it comes to commissions. That would mitigate the fact that there is no transfer fee to pay as his Juventus contract has come to an end.

The interest in Udinese’s Lazar Samardzic is said to be separate from the Fofana-Rabiot conundrum that Milan could be faced with.

    1. Well, selling Bennacer for 50 mil, Saelemakers for 20, Adli for 15 mil, Maldini for 5 mil, would make bigger capital gain than with selling Tonali and releasing Origi from salary list, would make big space for new player salaries.

It is difficult job but not impossible.

If we add Thiaw sale, we might get new striker, as well with Emerson, Pavlovic, Samardzic, Rabiot and Fofana arrivals.

    2. Furlani and Moncada error. They want Fofana but because they stuffed up negotiations they have alternative that is 3rd best at that.
Sack them both and get someone who is useful not useless.
They’re tarnishing the Milan brand and no one will deal with Milan in future

  1. Rabiot is a decent player but I don’t think the right one for a double pivot. We need a big physical guy who likes to sit right in front of the defence and reijnders can do the rest.

    1. Rabiot and Chiesa are 2 market opportunities, despite who arrives at Milan these two would raise the level in of the squad.

It we had these 2 there would be no distance (as per Fabio Cappello) between us and Inter and if the management are not considering them, they are clueless.

What is the point of being financially stronger then Inter if we are weaker on the pitch!!

        1. Agreed Chiesa has fitness issues, similar to Pulisic when he was at Chelsea.

But chiesa when fit is most certainly not useless. He’s one of the few genuinely talented Italians out there.

      1. Chiesa has never been looked at and Rabiot will never come for the money being requested. He turned down 7mil at Juve that Milan wouldn’t have ever paid.

  2. I don’t understand this millan management, they cant bring money out to get players just to be pointing and booking a player.

    1. This management has failed again. Moncada and Furlani don’t have what it takes to negotiate against other clubs to secure big name players.

They go after player other clubs are not really interested in,
Both Monacada and Furlani should be stood down and get someone who will make Milan great and competitive in CL and serial A
The failure of securing Fofana and a top striker to help ageing Morata will be devastating to Milan season, just like the failure to buy Thuram last season and allowing Inter to have him was a disgrace on Mocada and Furlani watch.
When will Cardinale open his eyes and see passed the fog ?

      1. Dear expert Football guru.

Transfer budgets are approved by clown Cardinale. So what does Moncada and Furlani can do? They are working on based on what is given to them as a transfer budget. Main problem is current board and Cardinale who has no dignity and they don’t have any ambitious to run Milan

  3. Rabiot sallary is biger then Leao’s. But is he even close to Leao level ? Also he is another box to box mid and Milan needs a more defensive mid. Loosing Tonali and Kessie was such a mistake.

  4. They’re nothing alike and we aren’t getting rabiot. He’d break that wage ceiling way off. If Milan gives a high salary to him (regardless free agent or not) the mike and theo negotiations are gonna get real complicated

  5. Biasin doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Milan will never pay Rabiot money or what Veronque will ask for.

  6. Milan mercato needs to make perfect deals. Rather than loosing every targeted players.. They need to make a perfect deal rather than continuing deals for weeks and losing up in end
