AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is hoping for a change of course from Ante Rebic between now and the end of the season otherwise his future could be thrust into doubt, a report claims.
This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) recalls that Rebic has been unlucky this season, because his big goals at Anfield against Liverpool and away at Juventus were followed up by repeated injury problems that ended any momentum.
His last start came back on 16 October 2021 and his last goal was the equaliser in the 2-2 draw against bottom-placed side Salernitana.
In the second half of the two previous seasons the Croatian was devastating as he scored 11 goals in 2019-20 and 10 goals in 2020-21. With eight matches in the league and a Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter to come, Rebic is expected to play a leading role.
It could also have an impact on his future too because although Rebic’s contract will expire in June 2025, there are never many players who are truly immune from being sold. Nonetheless, the former Eintracht Frankfurt man has not been called up by the Croatian national team since the Euros, so he has intensified his training at Milanello in the meantime, ready for Bologna next Monday.
he brings the kind of “toughness” needed on the pitch, strong in the box,not pushed off the ball easily . etc. unfortunately he does us no good sitting on the bench….catch 22 ,he needs more playing time to get his form back and be effective, but because he has not been up to form and not effective, he is not getting any playing time……absolutely needed for the last push for the Scudetto
Yes I agree with you, I would have loved that piolintry Rebic on the right wing. We need as much fire power as we can deliver from the attacking front this time around
What Pioli needs to do is to start Rebic in the next game with Leão coming later on from the bench.
I think we could start Rebic as a CF and then let Zlatan or Giroud in for last 20-30 minutes. Rebic played his best games as a CF actually. And he co-works with Saelemakers/Castillejo and Diaz properly.
