Bild: Milan offering €16m as Kone hands in transfer request – agreement possible

Manu Kone has been linked with a move to AC Milan and despite the signing of Youssouf Fofana, he could arrive this summer. According to reports in Germany, the Rossoneri have an offer ready and an agreement is possible.

Kone has just returned from the Olympics with France, during which he did very well, and he’s now focused on his future. Indeed, it doesn’t look like he will stay at Borussia Mönchengladbach beyond this summer.

According to BILD, the midfielder has handed in a transfer request and the German side will grant his request as soon as an adequate offer is on the table. Milan have made an offer of €16m, per the outlet, but the demand is €25m excluding bonuses.

This sounds like a significant distance, as the report continues, but an agreement is possible at around €20m. The likes of PSG, Juventus and Newcastle have also expressed an interest but there have seemingly been no offers from either of them yet.

As for Milan, a few sales would be needed to complete the signing, with a trio expected to leave before the window closes. It should also be noted that there are currently no spots left in the squad, meaning one of the key players like Ismael Bennacer would also have to leave (seems unlikely).

  1. I saw him during the Olympics he was pretty good. But don’t think it’s happening. If Kalulu leaves we should focus on a solid replacement.

  2. This move will happen especially if Kalulu , Adli and Pobega leave but I strongly believe Bennacer will leave as well.

This would be a good move for Milan to offload these players and get Kone.

    1. And who is left in our midfield? The Bennacer hate is super weird in this forum and a very bad take. You need someone to control the game from the bottom-up… Fofana-Bennacer pivot with Reijnders as CAM is what will give us control over midfield again…

      1. Clearly Bennacer is the leading candidate to be sold out of the midfield after Adli if someone like Kone arrives. Calling it “Bennacer hate” is what is weird. Contemplating Bennacer’s departure is not a matter of “hate” but more a matter of the natural conclusion to a chapter. We are clear in the midst of a major turnover of the midfield. Bennacer is the last of the scudetto midfield of Bennacer/Tonali/Kessie/Calhanoglu. He’s had injury issues over the last two seasons. And most importantly, he has a market among clubs that would be willing to pay his release clause (Arabia). His exit is a logical end to an era that began to end last summer with the arrivals of Reijners and RLC, and is continuing this summer with Fofana and perhaps Kone, and a logical way to fund it all. This is not to say that I or anyone else WANTS him to be sold, just that sometimes a player’s time at a club is over, just like Chiesa at Juventus. It’s not any more dramatic than that and people need to be less emotional about it.

If Kone arrives I can easily see Bennacer making way in addition to Adli and Kalulu (along with deadwood like Ballo-Toure and Origi) to bring numerical and financial balance back to the squad. Eventually I see one of Salad or Okafor departing as well.

    1. Trimming 2-3 players??? Ballo on the way out, Pobega is from Academy so any deal is pure profit, Adli depends… but yeah Origi is our Anthony and won’t get rid of him until his contract expires

  3. Why do we want to bring someone who have being tested in Italian league to replace someone who have proven himself like Ben. We don’t need kone for now. Ben needs to stay in Milan

  4. The backbone modern cardinale milan is frenchmen. So we need more frenchmen blood, so we can be more pure as modern cardinale milan

  5. Now that we’ve got Fofana, I don’t see the addition of also going for Koné. He’s mainly as box to box midfielder who’s good at carrying the ball, and in the France-Spain final in the olympics I didn’t like him too much as a defensive midfielder (but maybe that’s just me). I don’t see what can he bring that is lacking in our midfield and we already have too many players anyways.
Since we have no intention of offloading him, I’d rather we spend time developping Musah, maybe one day he’ll turn out to be a half-decent pivot.

    1. We are challenging at all fronts this season, the champions league, series a, and coppa Italia, we need 2 very good players for each postion and probably a 3rd that can interchange positions, we should be feared that when one player is leaving the pitch, another beast is coming on.
Whenever people dream of Milan being great again, why doesn’t that dream include having large squad of superheroes? If the funds are there, let the club do the needful including paying to dis-engage players like origi if offers don’t come up for them even people fail to accommodate injuries as one of our major liabilities

  6. We can only register 17 non-home-grown players and we currently have 22. Even if Origi and Ballo-Touré leave, we still need to sell 3 players before being able to register the new comers. So if we buy Koné, we will need to sell yet another player.

  7. He’s not a necessity , he’s an opportunity. If we can offload Adli and Bennacer will be a great deal . I’m sorry for Bennacer but physically he is not the one who was.

  8. I think we need too offload first. There are requirements. And as French players, they are some of the best in the world representing one of the best national teams. Only Spain can outplay them.
