Boban hits back at Milan after sacking: “I didn’t know we were in North Korea”

By Isak Möller -

Following his interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport last weekend, AC Milan announced yesterday that Zvonimir Boban has been sacked with immediate effect, thus putting an end to the rumours in recent days.

As became evident in the last few months, the disagreements within the club – mainly with CEO Ivan Gazidis – were too much to handle. In the end, Boban couldn’t take it anymore and decided to go public with his criticism.

However, although the club felt that the interview was enough to warrant the sacking, Boban made it clear that it was ‘legally perfect’. Speaking to Il Giornale (via MilanNews.it), in fact, the Croatian director hit back at the club.

“My interview is legally flawless, and it came after so many questions of internal clarifications that were promptly ignored. I didn’t know we were in North Korea. Rangnick? They secured him in December without telling us anything,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if there will be an official response to this from the club, as Boban’s claims are quite remarkable. In any case, there are better ways to end your Rossoneri adventure, although he will always have the support of the fans.
