Boban: “Very disappointed about the derby; we’re a work in progress”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan director Zvonomir Boban has expressed his disappointment at the Rossoneri’s performance in Saturday’s derby defeat.

There are concerning signs regarding Milan’s start to the season under Marco Giampaolo, with two defeats already on the board after four games.

In addition to this, the team have scored just two goals (one from open play) – the joint lowest among Europe’s top five leagues.

The most damaging defeat came on Saturday night at San Siro, where rivals Inter took all three points thanks to goals from Marcelo Brozovic and Romelu Lukaku.

Despite this, Giampaolo actually compares pretty well with previous managers with regards to points accrued from his first four games, and Boban has expressed confidence that things will improve.

“We’re very disappointed about the derby because we were beaten,” Boban said at the FIFA Football Awards in Milan last night, via Football Italia.

“Still, we’ll do better and we’re confident. We’ll do everything we can because the team must play like the fans and us all expect, and like the Coach expects too.

“We’re a work in progress: but it’s better that we do it as quickly as possible.”
