Resto del Carlino: Bologna target Milan midfielder but talks with Chelsea are needed

By Oliver Fisher -

Tiemoue Bakayoko is not having the best of times at AC Milan but he could well be given the chance to remain in Italy, according to a report.

After spending the 2018-19 season at Milan under Gennaro Gattuso on loan, there was talk of Bakayoko even becoming a permanent Rossoneri player. In the end it took until 2021 to see the Frenchman return, this time on a two-year loan, but it has not gone to plan.

Bakayoko is yet to play a single competitive minute for Milan so far in the current campaign as he seems to be at the bottom at the midfield pecking order, and that is why the early termination of his loan keeps being mentioned.

According to Il Resto del Carlino (via Calciomercato.com), Bologna are considering a move for Bakayoko, who is expected to leave Milan in January. The obstacle is represented by the salary that the former Monaco man earns, so a possible negotiation with Chelsea is needed.

  1. I’m sure Pioli can use this guy but Milan do not want to trigger the purchase clause and on the other hand, I think Chelsea would be willing to cut their losses on the player like they did with Torres some years back. I don’t think anyone would be willing to pay a dime for him but I’m also not sure how much Milan want him even on a free transfer. Either way, I hope he can get his career back on track.

  2. What a great transfer operation Bakayoko has been for Milan. Maldini gets him, not on 1 year loan but 2 years, and they refuse to play him because they don’t want to trigger his mandatory buy out clause, plus he is not a good player, but who could have foreseen that, right.
So, since he is from Chelsea, Milan had to pay some fee to loan him, plus they are paying him 2.5 mil a year to not play.
And when you think, that in the same summer Milan signed Bakayoko on 2 year loan with 17 mil buyout clause, Napoli – the team that couldn’t wait to get rid of Bakayoko, signed Frank Anguissa on 1 year loan with 15 mil buyout option.
One of them is among the best midfielders in the league, the other has played as many minutes for Milan this season as any Milan fan, ZERO.
But i guess Bakayoko and his agent lied to Maldini when they told him that he is actually a good player, even though he was trash for 4.5 of the previous 5 years.
