Bonaventura expresses his love for the Milan fans: “I’m always very tense”

By Isak Möller -

After beating his former side with Fiorentina last night, Giacomo Bonaventura spoke to the media about the special emotions he experienced. And the Rossoneri fans sure do appreciate him still.

The midfielder joined Milan back in 2014 from Parma and quickly became a key player for the Rossoneri. In 184 games for the club, Jack managed to find the back of the net 35 times and he also assisted 30 goals.

He was well-received by Curva Sud last night and after the game, Bonaventura shared his thoughts with Sky Italia (via MilanNews). He admitted that he always feels tense when he plays against Milan, given his history at the club.

“I’m always very tense when I play against Milan. I was there for six years and I experienced incredible emotions, playing at San Siro was a fantastic thing for me. I didn’t want the game to finish. The fans were always close even in those complicated years. Then two years ago, they gave me an incredible round of applause and I got goosebumps. Milan have a fantastic fan base. I always gave my best and I was appreciated for that,” he stated.

As said, Bonaventura was a fan-favourite during his time at Milan and although he ended up leaving on a free transfer, his contribution will always be remembered. Having amassed over 100 games for Fiorentina, he’s heading for icon status there as well.
