Warren Bondo’s debut with AC Milan was certainly a positive one given the circumstances, and Sergio Conceicao seems to have developed an idea from it.
As MilanNews write, Bondo’s return – who arrived on a permanent basis for €10m in the winter but was nursing an injury – opens up a series of new tactical scenarios for the coach Conceicao and his staff in this final part of the season.
Ideal pivot
Bondo arrived at Milan with the label of deputy to Youssouf Fofana but he could also play alongside him in the pursuit of balance. In Lecce this did not happen: Bondo started from the beginning and was replaced after just over an hour by Joao Felix, Fofana came on about ten minutes later.
Yet in these last months of the season we will be able to see them together, to give a bit more defensive protection especially when the opponents are going forward with counter-attacks and transitions.,
Putting the two French players in the middle of the field at the same time could give the right physicality to the middle which the protects the rearguard, something Tijjani Reijnders can’t guarantee as he has a different skill set.
Reijnders rejoices
Speaking of Reijnders, the Bondo-Fofana pairing could be the second assist that this tactical solution could offer to Conceicao, to relieve a little of the defensive duties that the Dutchman has.
He can then focus on doing what he does best: scoring and creating danger. It could impact Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic as well, too often forced to drop back next to Fofana this season.
In other words, it makes sense for all involved and feels like a ’round pegs in round holes’ solution, at least until Milan potentially sign a pure defensive midfielder. It remains to be seen what Conceicao intends to do, starting from Como.
Yes but skip the 4-2-3-1
go for 4-3-3

Bro, that formation IS a 4-2-3-1. A proper 4-3-3 is the following:
———————–Maignan———————-
Walker——Thiaw——Pavlovic——Theo
——Fofana——Bondo——Reijnders——
——Pulusic——Gimenez——Leao——
Fofana is really not good enough for Serie A.
Thankyou! And reinjders is borderline not good enough. Bondo does not look good. Its not even a joke.
Reinders are you joking!!!!??
They are good, but under a coach that plays to their strengths. Reijnders and fofana were better under Fonseca, but have failed with sarge. Reijnders is excellent in the national team as well. Bondo is still young and watching the game he played well, just isn’t used to the new team(or instructions) that got him in trouble sometimes. He has really good ball retention and good under the press wich if he’s gonna be a DM would be very integral to for him.
Bagaimana kalau anda saja yang bermain, menggantikan Fofana???
I agree with going a 4-3-3.
The Midfield is abysmal.
Reindeers and Felix are not good enough for the 10.
Bondo is a flop! Well..
prove me wrong on this 🙂
How can he be a flop after 60 minutes on an injury return? Yes, he seems like a poor choice to sign injured in our push for top 4, but it’s hardly his fault we were already out of that by the time he was fit.
I’m not saying he’ll become a world beater but he’s not had a chance at all yet, you sound like all the Italian media making conclusions based on the most recent game alone.
Rosso , i can prove you wrong , by asking you to turn your TV upright, i think its upside down
How is bondo a flop? Or are u watching your own tV upside down or u don’t even know football at all, or u r d flop in knowing what is good?…….
Rubbish comment
Ohhhhhhh 😲
