This afternoon, it was reported that Daniele Bonera was going to be sacked, and AC Milan have now confirmed that the Futuro coach has left his role.

From top to bottom, this has been a forgettable season for Milan. Not only have the senior team struggled, but the issues have branched out to the youth teams, most notably with the Futuro, where the hyped project is currently failing.

With a host of stars in the Primavera, the Rossoneri wanted to create a more valuable pathway for their young talents, and the Futuro team was the option taken. Supported by Jovan Kirovski and Zlatan Ibrahimovic mainly, the project began in the summer, being entered into Serie C.

So far though, it has not gone to plan. In fact, it has been derailed massively.

The young players have struggled to adapt to the more physical Serie C, and many have actually played better in Serie A with the senior team, rendering things slightly useless in some departments, arguably.

The statement published by the Diavolo on their website reads as follows:

“AC Milan can confirm that Daniele Bonera has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Milan Futuro. On behalf of the Club, we would like to thank Daniele for all the hard work, professionalism and passion that he has shown during this spell as a coach.

“The Club wishes Daniele all the best in his personal and professional future. Furthermore, AC Milan can confirm that Mauro Tassotti will stay at the Club and remain on the Milan Futuro coaching staff.”

Ibrahimovic spoke to GQ earlier today, and the Futuro was one of his big talking points, so his faith remains in the project. Nevertheless, stark improvements are needed very quickly and if they do not arrive then there will be issues.

Reports suggest that Massimo Oddo will be brought in in an attempt to save the ship.

  1. At least with the first team, you can always say there’s next year. But the Futuro might not have a future after this season smh 🤦‍♂️. Why’d they take so long. The entire season for both teams from start to finish is just pure incompetence

  2. finally!

can anyone explain the official regulations for relegation from SerieC ? i only know 9 teams relegate, but does it mean 3 of each division, or last of each and some playouts? and if playouts, how does it work?

  3. A man has lost his job and I feel for him but, man, was this overdue. Automatic safety is almost impossible at this point.

More we can thank Ibra for.
