Victor Boniface to AC Milan has been given the ‘here we go’ as the striker will arrive from Bayer Leverkusen shortly.

Talks seemed to develop quickly between the parties and it even emerged that a loan formula was being discussed. Through the negotiations, Boniface’s desire to join the Rossoneri was re-iterated, and he will get his wish.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has written: “Victor Boniface to AC Milan, here we go! Verbal agreement between all parties for the Nigerian striker. €5m loan fee, €24m buy option clause not mandatory and contract until 2030 also done. Next step; medical tests ahead of signing all contracts.”

That is a master deal. To get him on loan with an option is class, but to even buy outright for 24m is amazing. Ifhecanstay healthy he can bra fantastic signing.
Even if I think Reijnders was sold a bit too cheap I gotta say that at least on paper for now that Tare is doing a splendid job with both sales and incoming players. Even if I wouldn’t have minded Vlahovic or Højlund joining us then Boniface certainly could turn out as a major steal if he can stay fit.

Well if we look at each transfer done and the previous disastrous season something had to be corrected and in my view It seems like we have improved. Theo had a horrible season and even showcased unprofessional behavior and with an expiring contract and demanding a huge increase in his wages we added someone who should be capable of being an asset and bought below his valuation. Adding Ricci, Jashari and Modric should improve the midfield even when we lost Reijnders. Adding Boniface with a fairly cheap buy option to replace a loaned Abraham and potentially adding Harder for Jovic also seems like an improvement to me. Thiaw was sold for over the double of his valuation and replaced with Koni seems like a status quo situation but my knowledge of the Belgian is also somewhat limited so its a bit difficult for me to judge that move. Add to that we added Athekame who probably should be given some time to adjust and improve. Selling Sportiello and replacing him with another aging goalkeeper is probably also a status quo situation. We also brought Saelemaekers back. My final judgment will obviously be when the Mercato ends as we could still end up buying or selling some other players as well. If Tare can mange to sell sell off Adli, Bennacer and Musah even the better. Coach wise even if not my first choice we have also added one who is great at getting results compared to the two lacklustre ones we had in the previous season. Overall at this point of time it seems we have made some wise moves but time will tell if that is actually also the case.

The player and the nature of the deal (loan with option to buy) makes this a wonderful deal.
This is not a kid from some obscure league.
This is also not some near retierment striker who is looking for some playtime before hanging up his boots.
This is a PROVEN striker from a good league and who is currently in his prime. The only issue is perhaps his fitness, but I think we sidestepped any possible complications and possible failures by getting him on loan instead of a purchase.
This deal was also done very quickly, in fact I think only De Winter’s deal was done faster.
So for me This is an excellent deal ! So good and swift in fact that I’m a bit surprised we didn’t consider him earlier this summer instead of either Højlund or Vlahović.
Having him in the summer tour could have been massive.

In his entire career he had one good season in Bundesliga. Rest, he played in coco-jumbo leagues and didn’t even reach 10 goals per season there. And in addition, huge problems with injuries.
Sorry but truth is, if he would be any good, Leverkusen wouldn’t agree to loan with option to buy. The only upside is, Milan can “test” him for a year before deciding on a buyout.
Best scenario honestly. I like him a lot more than Hojlund who’s shown no real desire to come and has ridiculous wages, vlahovic also wanted way too much for how little output he’s been having on the pitch. I definitely leaned toward either Sorloth or Boniface cuz they fit the profile we need better. Now the positions we really need to be complete would be another LB to cover for estupinian and we certainly need 1 more CB, preferably one who is experienced and can lead the backline
