Borini: “I was never close to China, my idea was to stay at AC Milan”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan forward Fabio Borini has claimed that he was never close to leaving the club in favour of a move to the Chinese Super League.

Borini netted the first goal in the Rossoneri’s 2-0 victory over Genoa at the Marassi on Monday afternoon.

The former Sunderland man was heavily linked with a move to Shenzhen in China, but he has now denied that he was ever close to moving east.

“I was never close to China,” he told MilanNews.it after the game.

“My idea was to stay at Milan. I’m happy for today and the future. This victory is crucial in light of the difficult games that await us because winning in Genoa is always complicated and put the others behind.

“It’s always a bit easier after you go in front. Goals? When you work hard and well and are repaid for it, it’s always nice.

“Do If I feel like a joker in the pack? No.”
