A complex case has developed surrounding Lille defender Sven Botman with no party involved seemingly willing to back down from their stance.
It feels like the Botman saga has been ongoing for months now given that Milan and Newcastle each tried to sign the Dutchman back in the January transfer window and waited for the summer to come around, and despite the fact many reports suggested the Rossoneri had virtually closed a deal, the race seems wide open.
Luca Marchetti told Sky (via MilanNews) that Botman remains a Milan target just as he has been for six months, but if they have not been able to close a deal in six months it is because it is ‘complex’.
The teams involved from January are the same as now: Milan, Newcastle and Lille. Not only that, but the positions taken up then remain the same: the player prefers Milan to Newcastle and Lille prefers Newcastle’s offer to Milan’s.
