‘Changed my career’ – Bournemouth star admits leaving Milan was ‘the best decision’

Milos Kerkez has been one of the best full-backs in the Premier League this season, and admitted leaving AC Milan was the best thing for him.

Since leaving Milan, Kerkez has been on a constant upward trajectory. Given how sought-after he is, the club might just feel a bit of regret that things did not go differently, even if Theo Hernandez has occupied that role for over half a decade now.

The Hungarian sparked some controversy on X when he left as he published a rather untasteful message to Milan over the lack of first-team minutes. He deleted it quickly and then published a more professional message, but it was clear that he was frustrated.

Kerkez gave an interview while on the documentary ‘Bournemouth, don’t call it Cinderella anymore’ and he lifted the lid on his decision to leave Milan for AZ Alkmaar, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“The phone call from AZ changed my career: playing in the Eredivisie made me want to be who I am today: that’s where I made the leap in quality. It was the best decision,” he said.

That shrug celebration against Lazio…

“When I played at Milan Theo had done the same thing after the goal against the Biancocelesti. I wanted to replicate it.”

A word to describe the countries played in…

“For England I would choose the adjective ‘crazy’. All the people, the fans here love football. For Hungary I would say the word ‘love’, I get a lot of it from everyone when I play with the national team jersey. For Italy I would use the term ‘calm’, I have good memories of that experience.”

On Reijnders, his former teammate at AZ…

“Tijjani is still a great friend of mine, an incredible player. I miss him because we understand each other very well. I’m following some games and I’m really happy for him.”

  1. Couldn’t get in the first team to develop and get minutes because of Theo. And where is Theo now? ON a decline and heading out… Brilliant planning by Milan, or lack of.

    1. Sadly its worse than that by our management, if memory serves me correctly. He just wanted to be involved with the first team (a bit like how Jimenez is now utilised) so didn’t demand to start but wanted a squad number.

Instead we signed some nobodies to be Theos backup, when we had a perfectly ready made one. And now… maybe he wouldn’t have developed as quickly on the Milan bench compared to regular games with AZ / Bournemouth but he’d likely be ready for the step up to starter and we could happily sell Theo this summer.

      Awful from our decision makers.

        1. Maldini found Theo & Kerkez, it’s no problem 4 him to find another, even after Kerkez gone where is Milan in table? in UCL?
and how it’s going w/ your Master Management doing atm w/out Maldini? how is “best transfer season” w/ great Royal & superstar Walker doing?

current management is sh1t & u eat it w/ proud,
          stfu sh1t eater, u r no funny

    2. Coz that time Theo is fking burning and shine like a sun!! So Maldini not wrong at all if he want to go to find his chances!

    1. Talk about agenda…

First of everyone makes mistakes. Second wasnt maldini the one who signed him in the first place? Maldini can’t force Pioli to play him and the kid wanted to leave. Relax

  2. Yea. Like we would have sold one of the best left backs in the world and played an untested starter. Kerkez wanted first team starter and nothing else.

All these are just after thought. If the management then had sold burning Theo for young upstart Kerkez, it’s the same brainless fanbase that would crucify them. Who even in their right mind would have sold Theo then, but instead build with him as a future. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The article is brain deforming. But even more so are the people who support it. This fanbase deserves this ownership and its management

  3. Kerkez plays in Bournemouth….. BOURNEMOUTH…. he is not a world beater and has everything to win. Please stop the non-sense since Liverpool wants him – he will be a bench warmer there with luck, or did you forget how the world beater Chiesa fared last season?
