GdS: Brahim Diaz shows his value again – Real Madrid’s plan and what the future holds

By Oliver Fisher -

Brahim Diaz was among the best performers on the field last night as AC Milan beat Napoli 4-0 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recall how Brahim got an assist for Leao’s first goal in two and a half months, then showed incredible close control to add his own goal and make it 2-0 en route to a rout that even the most optimistic fans could not have predicted.

Back on 8 October at San Siro he was perhaps the man of the match in the 2-0 win against Juventus which could ultimately represent one of the biggest results in the race for fourth place, while he settled the tie against Spurs in the Champions League.

But what about the future? Brahim’s two-year loan from Real Madrid will end in June and there is an option to buy set at €22m with a buy-back in favour of the LaLiga side at €26-27m. The Spaniard feels part of the project, he is grateful to the club and the managers and would gladly stay at Milanello to continue his journey.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara intend to ask the European champions for a discount, while in Spain they are considering bringing Brahim back to base, potentially to sell for a capital gain.

The first answers will arrive between April and May, when Milan – when factoring in the Champions League and the league – will have a more defined plan for the future.

  1. Brahim always shine against big teams.

The biggest problem from him is every time he face mid to lower table team who put more layer in defense.

But with Pioli put him more wider especially in the right area, he could have more solution / freedom against mid to lower team?

    1. Some of us have been asking Pioli to play Diaz as the RW as he would have more space & time. Look what happened last night. He played his best game this year.

IMO he should be bought for 10-15M€ and be played as a RW (or buy Orsolini but he’d cost way more). That would allow us to get someone better for the #10 role (nope, that’s not CDK either).

  2. Hmmm, how can we ask for a discount and still get Madrid to have buy back? Absolutely no position to negotiate on this one. Also, if I were Madrid and didn’t want him I would still posture that I did to get the most out of Milan with them thinking they would earn 5m out of deal.

    1. Real has all the power here. If Milan were to haggle (100% sure they will), they can sell him to EPL for bigger sums. The only thing Milan has favoring them is the will of the player. But that don’t mean **** if Real don’t appreciate it.

  3. He is good if deploy as RW in 4231 or 433 but we need krunic to help midfield defense & ball recovery. The reason why pioli play bakayoko as subtitute midfield because no one in our bench are ball winner / ball recovery . Pobega, aster, adili all of them are weak on defense
