Brahim Diaz reacts after match-winning performance and insists: “We fight and win together”

By Oliver Fisher -

Match winner Brahim Diaz has revealed his delight at being a key part in AC Milan’s first victory of the season as they beat Sampdoria 1-0.

It was not a vintage performance by any means, but Brahim was the man who ended up being decisive as he scored the only goal less than 10 minutes into the game. Davide Calabria supplied a sumptuous cut-back after stealing possession from Augello, and the Spaniard made no mistake with a first time finish.

It marks the start of what will hopefully be a positive Milan return for the man on loan from Real Madrid, as he rejoined the Rossoneri on a two-year deal which has an option to buy, and he was certainly one of the key performers on the night.

Brahim spoke to Sky Italia after the game and insisted that the team must improve from here, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.

On his goal and his performance: “I’m very happy for the team, the goal is for them and the fans. I’m very happy, it’s a great way to start the championship. Now we have to improve.”

On the Scudetto as a target: “We think match after match and this will be our strategy. This year there are many good teams and we need to improve what we have done compared to last year.”

On possible arrivals from the market: “I don’t know anything about the transfer market. I’m very happy to be here with the fans, with the team and with the coach.”

The 22-year-old also spoke to DAZN at the end of the game,

“A good performance, we need to improve but we are at the beginning of the season. The important thing was to win and three points arrived,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I feel good with everyone: Ibra always missing, but I got along well with Giroud too. We fight and win together, this is the right spirit. The number 10? This is Milan and it’s an important number, but I don’t have fear. I’m very happy to be here. Scudetto? Let’s go from game to game, we’re Milan, let’s see.”
