Marca: Playmaker still holds Real Madrid dream but Milan plan to use €22m option

By Oliver Fisher -

Brahim Diaz has an uncertain future beyond the end of the season which AC Milan and Real Madrid must resolve, a report claims.

Marca report that Real Madrid know they have a player on their books who has big potential and that is why the playmaker is ‘under study’ by their management to see if he should be considered part of the plans for the future.

Milan have already made it clear that they intend to exercise their option to buy which was set at €22m, which would therefore make Brahim a permanent Rossoneri player, but by paying €5m to Milan and thus exercising the €27m buy-back clause Los Blancos could bring him back.

If they do decide to bring the former Manchester City man back to base, it would be for Brahim to become part of the first team and not to be part of another operation. However, a lot depends on the futures of players such as Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Real Madrid believe Brahim Diaz could be a ‘perfect player to complete the squad’, but they see it as quite difficult at present that he would become an undisputed starter. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old feels important at Milan and backed by the club, even though the dream of succeeding at Real Madrid continues to keep him alive.

  1. When exactly have they made that clear? Pioli might be in love with him but I doubt Maldini still thinks he is worth it, at least I certainly hope so.

    1. Maybe if M&M can negotiate the price to 1/2 of the original request it MIGHT be OK to keep him as a backup but… +20M€ on him is a wasted purchase. Even Barak was much better yesterday.

  2. Ac Milan management should focus on (re) building and upgrading the CORE. Still 2 most important players are to be extended. Milan – Leao = Milan without all Leao’s contribution in attack. To find his replacement it will take 10 years at least. Brahim Diaz is okay player, but his contribution is far away from bigger stage. Still they need to invest 20 mil… 20 mill is not cheap.

Milan is playing without playmaker and effective right winger because of the CORE which is solid. Without Kessie that CORE is damaged in the way that we have difficulties in defence and rotation. Once more: job of management is focusing on priorities. Fans where waiting for player extention for almost year for now. Leaving best players and expensive bying of potential Will affect result sooner then later.

  3. Stop playing Diaz. Milan must be mad!
Diaz is a paradox. He plays well, Milan will lose him as RM have buy back clause. He plays badly, he will deny Adil and CDK (Milan owned players) a chance to grow and integrate with the team. Diaz has to be the last option in the bench.

    1. I don’t understand the infatuation with Adli. It’s like he’s some promising world class 18 year old or something. Adli is one year younger than Brahim, and he not shown anything that would lead me to believe he will turn out any better than Diaz. He played poorly leas season for a Ligue 1 side that was rock bottom, ad then mid-table the two seasons prior. Diaz on the other hand has been playing for us in Serie A and the CL during that same time for the most part. That being said, I do think 22m is a lot for a position in which we already have two other players. For that reason alone, I would possibly not exercise the option to buy, not because I think Adli is going to be better than Diaz.

      1. “he not shown anything that would lead me to believe he will turn out any better than Diaz. ”

And you came to that conclusion by seeing him play a couple of minutes this Serie A season? 😀 😀 😀

Did you see him in the pre-season? Already during those couple of matches he showed more vision and passing skills than Diaz has shown during 2 years.

  4. If this turns out to be true and if Real Madrid do not exercise their counter-option to buy, then I can already see everyone complaining how Milan has no money to spend in the summer. 22 million for Brahim in addition to the possibility of Dest being purchased outright means 44 million euros spent in the summer. There are still the other options to consider for other loanees. Unless a sale comes, I don’t see Milan spending big on a player in the summer. This would not be because of the new owners but rather because of the loans being made permanent. I don’t think many of the current players on loan will be purchased but just something for everyone to consider before the summer transfer window.

    1. No way in **** they’d buy Dest! Too expensive and his salary is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off budget. Plus Florenzi is back next season so there is no need for Dest.

      1. Kalulu, Calabria, Thiaw & Florenzi. They all can play as RB so where does Dest fit in? RW? Naah, they’ll get someone better for that role. Or stick with Saele & Messias as we won the scudetto with them, lol.
