Brahim Diaz ‘very grateful’ to Milan but admits he always wanted Real Madrid return

By Oliver Fisher -

Brahim Diaz has thanked AC Milan for the memories shared and what he learned while on loan, but has admitted a return to Real Madrid was always his priority.

Earlier in the week, Real Madrid confirmed that the Spaniard has returned to the club after three seasons on loan at Milan. The Rossoneri initially wanted to keep the No.10 on a permanent basis, but ultimately Los Blancos have brought him back to the Spanish capital.

There were a number of reported factors feeding into that, such as Milan’s apparently hesitance in paying the asking price plus Real’s desire to instantly replace the outgoing Marco Asensio, who went to PSG.

Brahim spoke at his presentation ceremony alongside Florentino Perez – who gave his own thoughts on the player’s growth as well as paying tribute to Silvio Berlusconi – and his comments were relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“Thank you, President, for your trust. Thank you for the signs of affection and for considering me to continue writing the story of the best club in the world. I know what this shirt means and I represent Real Madrid,” he said.

“Today is one of the best days of my life. I’ll be back more prepared and eager to improve myself. As I said on day one: Hala Madrid, only Madrid. Until the end, let’s go Real. You just have to see what they have achieved in the 21-22 season. It’s the biggest club in the world.

“I stayed at Milan for three seasons and what they asked of me was a fairly high performance. We brought Milan back to the top. When I arrived in Madrid last time I was a child, now I’ve played more games, including in the Champions League…

“This makes you more mature. I am very grateful to Milan because they have made me grow and helped me a lot in these three years.”
