Brescianini says Milan debut is ‘a dream come true’ and praises team locker room

AC Milan defeated Cagliari 3-0 today at the San Siro, with Ragnar Klavan’s own goal followed by goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samu Castillejo. The Rossoneri ended the season with a win and in the last match, Stefano Pioli granted Marco Brescianini his debut for the club.

The young midfielder came on the field in the 65th minute to replace Ismael Bennacer and looked very mature and calm for his age, despite not playing a minute of competitive football for the senior side up until this evening.

The 20-year-old spoke about his thoughts on his debut in a post-match interview to Milan TV, as cited by MilanNews.it.

“I am really very excited and I want to thank everyone. The club, the manager, the staff, the people who have been close to me in difficult times. I’m very happy,” he opened up in the interview with the club’s official TV channel.

“Coming from a Milanese family, my dream was always to be able to play with this shirt at the San Siro. Today it has come true. I hope it is just a starting point. I have always tried to work in silence. I can say that work always pays.

“The locker room? There are great personalities. Everyone has always tried to give me a hand, both in training and today in the game. I would really like to mention everyone, especially the most experienced ones. Last year Abate, Jack, Gattuso, this year Ibra, Biglia, Bennacer, Mr Pioli. There is only to learn from them, even just by looking at them,” Brescianini concluded.

As mentioned, these 25 minutes were the first for Brescianini in the first team. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to add more next season or perhaps the club could choose to send the talented midfielder on loan to gain experience. The next weeks will likely offer some clarity in this regard.
