Despite the heavy interest in Marcus Rashford, AC Milan are not putting all of their eggs in a single basket and have a Plan B if their pursuit fails.
Milan’s number one target for the January mercato seems to be Marcus Rashford, and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic hinting at action being taken in the market, a statement signing is to be expected. In the run-up to the mercato’s opening, there were suggestions about Samuele Ricci, but it seems this will now be a summer mission.
Therefore, the move for Rashford seems to fit the bill of what could be required.
The terms of a deal are still being worked out, but reports today suggest that the winger is ready to take a hit on his wages to secure a move away from Old Trafford, something which would only further appeal to the Rossoneri.
Should they fail to land the Englishman though, they already have a backup plan ready. Instead of Rashford, they would go for Francisco Trincao, the Sporting Lisbon winger, as Gazzetta dello Sport write (via Milan News). At 25-years-old he presents a great opportunity, with seven goals so far this season.
In addition to this, his contract expires in the summer of 2026, which is a similar parameter to how the Rossoneri have structured and built deals in recent years – targeting players who have 18 months or less on their deals.
Ah, the good old plan B.
Honestly going after Trincao would be better, he is younger, hungrier , cheaper, and the safer choice, Rashford is a risky proposition, his attitude and form is suspect, Trincao will give everything..
Trincao is two years younger and has a similar record to Rashford despite one playing in England and one in Portugal. He didn’t succeed at Wolves or Barcelona. Don’t get me wrong, he’s an excellent player but wouldn’t trouble Leao or Pulisic, but Rashford has potential to be at the very top level if a coach can get form from him.
He’s a guy who’s coped with a lot of media and pressure in his young life too, and performed despite Man Utd being run as a shambles, and I think he’ll be good anywhere outside of England. For his sake, Dortmund would be a better fit, look how it reinvigorated Sancho last year.
Issue with Milan (apart from his crazy high wage) is that his best position is the same as Leao’s and I’m not sure how compatible they’d be.
How can Rashford be plan A? Trincao seems like a much better profile. With Trincao we will have proper depth on the wing, allowing us to still be competitive when one of Leao and Pulisic are injured.
Rashford isn’t a bad player, but way overrated and way overpriced. If it’s a loan until the end of the season, it makes sense. Otherwise it’s a big mistake
I agree – give me Plan B over Plan A any day.
I was hoping it was fake news at the beginning, but now everyone is reporting it.
Well it is first obvious that someone will leave Milan. With our squad this moment, Milan Is covered in all positions except of missing Florenzi.
If attacker is arriving, one will definitely depart.
I expect Fode Ballo and Origi will stil stay in Milan. And players in last year of contract like Jovic, Florenzi and Calabria are going to be here untill end of season.
They should first fix midfield, left back and right back before turning their attention to attack.
just sign both Trincao can snatch the right wing and also place perfectly well behind the striker
This is a position that Milan should pay attention to:
1.Emerson=Rensch(Ajax),
Lamptey(Brighton) or Walker-
Peters(Southampton)
2.Tomori=Tah(Leverkusen), Boscagli(PSV)
Gasiorowski(Valencia)
3.Midfielder=Tom
Bischof(Hoffenheim),Lucas
Sanabria(Young talent in Uruguay)
