Busquets confirms Kessie will join Barcelona and reveals Xavi transfer background

By Oliver Fisher -

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has essentially confirmed that Franck Kessie will be joining them on a free transfer this summer.

There has been a lot of speculation that Kessié has agreed a deal to join the Catalan club ahead of the 2022-23 season and their president Joan Laporta seemed to confirm the Ivorian will arrive as well as Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen, even though he stated that he couldn’t give names specifically.

Now, Busquets has also spoken to RAC1 and was asked about Kessie, basically confirming the arrival of the Ivorian at the end of the season as reports have suggests for the last couple of weeks now.

“Franck is a physically strong player and is one who loses few balls and who knows how to set up the game,” he said (via MilanNews).

“For this I am sure he will be a reinforcement that will do us good. Kessié will help us. He will have to adapt to Xavi’s game, but it was our coach who gave the ok for the transfer. Barcelona are recovering and players want to come to us.”

Fabrizio Romano gave the ‘here we go’ last week and claimed that after a verbal agreement was reached between Kessie’s entourage and Barcelona a few days ago, the Ivorian has now officially signed as new Blaugrana player.
