“He’s been a bystander” – Ahmed and Oliver question Allegri’s Ricci preference

Adrien Rabiot will be suspended for the game against Lazio and that has once again reignited the Samuele Ricci vs. Ardon Jashari debate, with Massimiliano Allegri seemingly opting for the former.

Due to the yellow card received in the second half against Inter, Rabiot won’t be available against Lazio on Sunday. It was his fifth of the season and although he did well to avoid a suspension for the derby, it had to come at some point.

With the Frenchman unavailable, and since Youssouf Fofana and Luka Modric have cemented their spots, it will be a battle between Ricci and Jashari once again. While many would agree that the Swiss international has shown more this season, the Italian seems to be ahead.

Jashari has impressed more

In the latest podcast episode, Ahmed and Oliver shared their takes on the situation, stating that if anything, it’s Jashari who should be getting the opportunities off the bench. Allegri seemingly has a different opinion as Ricci has been getting the chance a lot more.

Ahmed: “Allegri is the coach and he sees them every day, so we defer to him, but he trusts Ricci physically in that Fofana spot more than Jashari in a way that I don’t believe has been reflected in the games.

“When Jashari has played, I’ve have never watched him and thought ‘well Ricci is so much better physically’, tackling, winning the ball back.”

Oliver: “If anything I’d say it has been the other way around where Ricci, in the big games, has been a bystander, you know the games have completely passed him by. He’s the one who’s supposed to be adapted to the league already, and he hasn’t had a big injury.”

  1. It’s doesnt mean “it has.” It means “it is” or denotes a possessive. It’s not (correct use) correcr to say “it is been a long day.”

Come on bro. You can do much better.

    1. I think you need to study this topic a little more, my friend. “It’s” can mean both “it is” and “it has” depending on the context, whereas the possessive pronoun you’re referring to would be without the contraction, i.e. its.

      1. Clearly its bean a lawn day Isak. Your in the wrong, their write. 😏🙄 They’re Hugo! I have spoke in, there not to be contra dicked it.

  2. A rest for fofana, to give room for Ricci and Ardon. If it goes well, Modric out for fofana. With Ardon taking Modric’s role.

    1. What bloody rest, there’s no need for that, we are playing once a week and Fofana didn’t even start some games! We should field the best possible XI every time from now on until the end of the season, there is no question about it, simply, no more time (and space for that matter) for calculations when it comes to us and our matches and starting lineups.

  3. Agree that Ricci has been a bystander all season, which has been a disappointment. Jashari should get the nod imo.

      1. Max thanks for reading my posts. The difference is Fofana is playing well and making a big difference and gets attacked by posters here….Ricci is not playing well, so I call it as I see it.

  4. The only time you made a negative critics it’s to Tackle down a player who arrived last summer from Torino and costed us just 23 millions while being a captain at his former club, and praising the over hyped and 40 millions swiss player , sorry but I disagree with you.

  5. Just like KDW, every player needs a steady run in the team to find form. Both Jashari and Ricci haven’t really gotten that.

As much as Jashari is a superior in terms of ball playing, Ricci still does put in a lot of work to put in. He just isnt a ball playing midfielder like Jashari. It can also be the coach’s instructions to him.

The way I see it now is Jashiri is more Seedorf-like and Ricci is more Gattuso-like. Both can coexist and do well in the team. Just give them time before judging them.

  6. No real critique for Ricci or Jashari from me at the moment. Jashari’s highlight reel is a bit more impressive but Ricci works hard and both are unlucky that there are two of the game’s top players ahead of them so can’t get consistent time.

We definitely don’t need to start scapegoating Ricci just because we’re struggling to find a player to dislike this season… just appreciate how good a position that is to be in!

  7. Yes, Allegri picks him even though Jashari recovered 5 months ago. He picks him because he is worse and does nothing and is only a “bystander”. There is a good book called football for dummies. I suggest both of you read it.

    1. Oh Max, the article stated Ricci has been a bystander all season. That is true imo, but it doesn’t mean he is a terrible player…it just means he has not played well this season.

You don’t seem to have a problem with Fofana and others being blasted by this forum even after a match winning performance?
