Cagliari boss Ranieri describes Milan as ‘very strong’ ahead of Serie A clash

Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri has described AC Milan as a ‘very strong’ and believes they are aiming to win Serie A this season.

Speaking to the club’s official media (via Milan News) ahead of the Wednesday clash between Cagliari and Milan, the Italian coach spoke highly of the opposition.

“We expected a tough start, the schedule is clear, we have two points and it could be more but also less, now on to Milan who are very strong and want to become champions of Italy again,” Ranieri said.

Milan come into matchday six in second place, three points behind league leaders Inter. They have won four games but were heavily beaten 5-1 by Inter in the Derby della Madonnina.

Cagliari have not enjoyed a good return to Serie A so far this season and they only have two points, having scored just one goal.

Ranieri spoke about how his team needs that one victory to calm things down and start really progressing in the top flight.

“It will be a good battle, we need some optimism also from the last matches, that goal, the victory that can unblock you and give you more calmness,” he said.

Milan are expected to make a few changes for this game as Stefano Pioli reacts to injuries and also rotates the team to keep players as fresh as possible.
