Calabria admits Italy call-up is his target: “I hope it can be another good season”

AC Milan secured their second win of the season this evening as they beat Cagliari by four goals to one. Davide Calabria was the captain of the team and did well on the right-hand side once again.

The right-back was very solid in both phases of the game and he also instructed his teammates this evening. In our ratings, he was awarded 7/10 and it’s safe to say that he has started the season in a very good way.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Calabria discussed the win and the chemistry with his teammates on the pitch. He also made it clear that one of his goals is to earn a call-up to the Italian national team.

On the game played…

“The coach is getting a good result out of us and we are happy. We had a good performance and winning one more game is always important.”

On personal goals…

“I have personal goals. I have to work harder and harder, also to be more incisive in front. My goal then is the national team, which is a consequence of the performances here. I hope it can be another good season and another great year.”

On the agreement in the field…

“We have been working together for some time now, with the return of the fans it is harder to hear what the coach says but we know what we have to do. Between one action and the next, he gives us indications. Our understanding is part of the growth path and continuing with the coach did us a lot of good and you can see this on the pitch.”

Hopefully, Calabria will continue the season this way as he’s currently a very important player for the Rossoneri. And at this rate, he should soon earn a spot in Italy’s squad.
