Calabria full of praise for Milan’s new signings including Pulisic: “He is adapting very well”

AC Milan defender Davide Calabria believes that the new signings have made a very positive impact so far, settling into a ‘young and ambitious’ group.

Milan made it two wins from two last night as they beat Torino 4-1 at San Siro. Christian Pulisic opened the scoring but Perr Schuurs hit back for the away side not long after. Olivier Giroud’s penalty restored the advantage before Theo Hernandez netted to make it 3-1 going into the interval.

Giroud would convert another spot kick in the second half after Rafael Leao was fouled to add some gloss to the scoreline, and make it six points from six with six goals scored and one conceded.

Calabria spoke to Milan TV after the game to assess what was another successful night for the Rossoneri and one that puts them top for the time being.

“I’m almost not surprised by our fans’ support. They haven’t missed a single game following us for years. They have always cheers us on and supported us, and we do our best to reward them for their passion,” he said.

“The new signings have adapted quite well and it’s also thanks to the strength of our squad. It’s easy to fit into our squad because we are a young and ambitious group of players.

“The players that have arrived are important, young and eager to learn. They’ve been at the coach and team’s disposal since day one to learn this new methodology which can be a bit tricky to learn.

“Right from the start It was evident that the new players were able to read our game and are talented, and they gave us a hand right from the start, which matters the most.”

Calabria also spoke about Pulisic’s start to life at Milan, given that he has really hit the ground running with two goals in his first two games in Serie A.

“We are talking about a player who was in top form on the world stage just a few months ago. His form dropped in recent months but he is a great player who has already shown what he’s capable of.

“This is the best environment for him – the squad, the fans and this stadium – in order to steal the limelight again. These recent games have shown he is adapting very well.”

Calabria concluded his interview by speaking about the team’s physical state after 180 minutes (plus added time) of action under their belts.

“It’s always tricky to decipher a team’s condition at the start of the season, even the heat doesn’t help, but we prepared in the best way possible for the start of this season.

“Our man mission was to take home six points in these two games, and we are satisfied about our physical resistance. We are working hard and must continue to do so.”
