Davide Calabria wants to return to AC Milan after just a few months in Greece, but there is something holding his wishes back.
Calabria has spent most of his life at Milan. In total the defender spent 18 years with his boyhood club before leaving on loan for Bologna and then signing as a free agent for Panathinaikos in the Greek Super League in the summer.

The full-back recently gave his side of the story on why his exit took place, and now it seems that he is longing for a return to his home country.
Calabria wants second spell
Today’s edition of Il Giornale (via MilanNews) features the following headline: ‘Calabria, longing for AC Milan. But his closeness to Maldini…’
The newspaper explains that Calabria misses Serie A and for this reason he wants to leave Panathinaikos to return to Italy. Complicating the matter, however, is his €2m net per season salary which most clubs do not want to pay.
Il Giornale then adds that a player like Calabria could have been useful to Massimiliano Allegri on the right flank in place of the disappointing Zachary Athekame, but ‘a déjà vu with the Rossoneri is unlikely’.
It’s been rumours that the former Milan captain ‘was too close to Paolo Maldini’ compared to the current management and ownership, and that is why they are unlikely to consider his candidacy.

There is a reason no team in serie A wanted him over the summer. He was a free agent until the last few days of the mercato. Even Bologna didn’t want to keep him.
Also, Milan plays with 3 at the back. Calabria cannot play as a CB in this system and he doesn’t have the speed, skills or attacking ability to play as a wing-back.
There is nothing disappointing about Athekame. He is a young player in a new country, new league, still adapting. He needs to get more playing time. Media and fans were fast to call de winter disappointing, but now they praise him.
Not even the bottom teams in Serie A wanted him, so how is ye gonna make any difference at Milan? Furthermore, he feels like the type of guy who would create problems in the dressing room and current hariarchy at the club…

“disappointing Zachary Athekame” totally disagree with this statement. He barely played but when he have he shown there is potential there.

Being “too close” to Maldini as a reason to not bring in a player to AC Milan, is weird.
There are other reasons not to sign him on, like his decline as a player since injuries.

No need for second spell, he was disaster in the first spell and he proved it many many times.
He loves Milan though. Probably good for locker room and he would gladly accept that. As a Second/third string right back I think that would be a good pick up
