Calabria trophy wave

Romano: Calabria leaves Milan to join Bologna with ‘immediate effect’ – the details

This afternoon, Davide Calabria’s departure from AC Milan has been confirmed, and it seems a deal will be wrapped up shortly with Bologna.

Calabria’s stocks have fallen massively in the past 18 months. The defender has gone from the undisputed starter at right-back and club captain to another option in the team. As a result, a contract extension seemed heavily unlikely this season.

Emerson Royal and now Kyle Walker will likely compete for the starting shirt, but a report has also suggested that Alex Jimenez will be considered for the position, so whether there will be a search for a replacement remains to be seen, though it looks unlikely.

Things with Bologna have accelerated quite quickly, and the right-back’s move to the Rossoblu has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. In a tweet this afternoon, the journalist states that he is due to leave with ‘immediate effect’ to join the club permanently.

Final details are still being clarified, but the documents to confirm the move should be signed today, if all goes to plan.

Given the speed of the move, it is unlikely the captain will be given an opportunity to ‘properly’ say goodbye, which may leave a sour taste in the mouth for some…

    1. That guy is worse off Calabria.
To hell with the one who signed Emerson Royal for Milan 😭
We were been scammed by Spurs.
Our scouting team are too bad 😞

      1. Please shut the fck up with that our scouting team is so bad you hypocrite. What about Pavlovic, Rejinders, Pulisic, Jimenez, Musah? Oh you suddenly forgot. Fake fan.

          1. “Jimenez is a good player, and only 19, you are a goof with no ball knowledge.”

Someone who labels Jimenez as “good player” scores an own goal with his/her “ball knowledge”.

      1. My first wish is fulfilled.
Leao is a great player if he decides to be but sofar he’s chosen to be a nuisance by being lazy and nonchalant.
        Leao out.
        Theo out.
        Fikayo out.
        Abraham out.
        Morratta out.

        1. Yeah sure let’s kick everyone out starting with our star players and build an entire new team. You fire up Fifa on PS5 and I’ll join to help you.

  1. I don’t know how I feel about this deal, on the one hand, I want him to stay as a squad player and on other hand, he’s at best an average player that Milan should have sold several years prior, it’s a bittersweet transfer

    1. Yes that’s difficult feels… one of last true rossonero , but in same time he was not in best form last one and half season and now when we have Walker and Jimenez there is no more place for him

  2. Why does this management keep offloading our players to rival teams. Bologna is competing for a European spot with us and we out here handing them reinforcements!

    1. Bro selling calabria to bologna is not harming our chances in anyway.

Are they suddenly gunna become prime Barcelona just they signed Calabria???

    1. Ibra: “you must go.”
      Calabria: “but i still usefull.”
Ibra: “we already have emerson the royal right back. He bench you, we will consider him to be future captain because he bench the current captain.”
Calabria: “but i haven’t said goodbye to the fans. ”
Ibra: “no need. This is american style management. No need to say goodbye.”
      Calabria: “

  3. Is because is beginning to bring confusion to the team
As a captain u don’t have to get your self disrespect the coach in front of your fellow player as a team leader

  4. Milan youth player who grew up locally and played for Milan his entire career.

Maldini gone, Massara gone, Tonali gone, Calabria gone. Next will be Gabbia.

Club is losing what little soul is left. The usual American ownership.

    1. Why should we keep average players just because they’re Italian or came through the youth system? Gabbia and Calabria are both average. Tonali is slightly above average. None of them were anywhere near world class..

      1. I agreed with you until you started about Tonali. He shouldn’t have been sold. Although I’m glad we got Pulisic and Reijnders it would be great to have him in the team now,

  5. good luck Cap,
u r a Rossoneri as much as we,
a loyal servant w/ heart of Milan.
i wish u r stay longer than such emerson, origi, baTor, tamy, jovic, musa & tomori but management is svck so what happen is what happen..

  6. So how will we complete squad lists ? We are supposed to have 4x homegrown trained by the club, with Calabria gone we have 1 in Gabbia, we desperately need Italians, even more so now with our captain gone

  7. Just seen footage of Calabria leaving in tears. That means something, no money can buy that. Has he only been sold because of the Emerson injury? This management is a joke. Calabria is good enough to he a squad player for us….bad
    Move in my view

    1. Not sold. Released for free. Just like he would have left in the summer.

(I’m NOT replying too quickly here stupid mo…fckr. This “forum” is so fckng pathetic)

    2. Milan have a rich tradition of letting their captains run out their contracts. Maldini, Ambrosini went the same way …

I feel bad for Calabria, the man and the loyalty shown to his club. But I won’t miss Calabria the player. His timing through the Banter Era was perfect but out of it he was simply out of depth …

  8. This management seems to be smoking shit.

This is middle of the season, for crying out loud! Emerson is injured. We have just Kyle walker on that wing. We have games every 3 days throughout this month thanks to immature Musah.

We are suppose to be focus on having a deeper squad to survive the season, not doing financial deals. There is summer for that.

What the hell are they playing at. 😡

    1. Management in panic mode because there are small chance qualifying for next champions league. And they still think about profit.

You are right. We should keep calabria in this busy month. Walker is new, need adaptation. Emerson is injured. But management want 2 million profit, so calabria is sold.

We should keep morata. It should be camarda going out for loan, so he can get playing time experience in serie a. Morata is not a problem, he is still usefull. But we want keep profiting, so management need to get rid morata big salary.

  9. He was fine as a squad player. The mistake was signing Emerson who is even worse than him as a player.

You always need home grown and serious players like Calabria in the locker room. He was born a Rossonero. Shame. This is NOT the way.

  10. I feel sad about the news. I would like to tell Calabria in person that you live in some of the glorious memory of AC Milan and, best of luck man.

  11. Never liked him. I am so glad to see his arrogant ass finally leave the club. He was a red card or a player less on court as his impact was always miserable. We are much stronger with his departure even if no one ever comes to this position. The guy is completely forgotten already. And it was is to forget him becouse ther is nothing to remember him for.

  12. Genuinley feels like the last of the soul of the club is leaving. All the love and excitement of that team that went unbeaten for 6 month in 2020 and won the scudetto in 22, its gone now, and it’s depressing… you deserved better Davide. All the more ironic you’re leaving to a team who’s in a better spot in the league then we are. Best of luck, you’ll always be one of us
