Calabria: Milan made ‘several errors’ and ‘had to be more clinical’ vs. Dortmund

By Oliver Fisher -

Davide Calabria seemed frustrated in his post-match interview after AC Milan drew 0-0 against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stages.

Both sides had big chances in both halves to win the game, with Olivier Giroud perhaps having Milan’s best opportunity in the first half and then Samuel Chukwueze had a couple of opportunities in the second, but composure was lacking.

It is another point and another clean sheet for the Rossoneri, who now sit third in the group with two points, two behind leaders Newcastle United and one behind PSG who they play away and home in the next two games.

Calabria spoke to Prime Video after the full-time whistle to give his assessment after what was a game both sides will feel they could have won given the chances that fell their way.

“It’s always complicated to talk in the heat of the moment: I want to cool things down and then analyse,” he began (via MilanNews).

“There were several errors and we had to be more clinical with the opportunities we had, at this level you can’t make mistakes. We played our game against a strong team in a stadium where they haven’t lost for two years. One of the most difficult groups in the history of the Champions League.”

  1. Oh boiii, they ask the worst one for comment, and he want to analyze the match later.Ok,go analize pls,to see how bad you were again, worst on the field once again.Just give that armband to someone who realy deserves it.the fact that you are italian who started carrier at the club doesnt mean that you are the leader

  2. I think the fans are harsh & unfair to Calabria sometimes or y’all misplaced your anger & disappointment.
Some are blaming Chuks who played last 20mins but won’t say anything about Giroud & Pulisic who were useless for over 60mins.
Calabria is a defender, we didn’t concede any goal in the last 2 champions league game so he did his job and our problem is the attack particularly Giroud. Imagine having a player like Lautaro Martinez today😬

  3. I’m in the 32nd minute and Calabria is TERRIBLE. truly. He is our capitano and I love the guy but this is bad. Kalulu needs to come back asap ams replace him w Florenzi as Kalulu back up. Maybe mid to low table serie a Calabria is just ok but any team better and it’s un disastro.

  4. Yes, Davide, and you were one of those errors. I really hope Pioli tries Kalulu at RB when he is fit, but everyone knows that won’t happen.

  5. We’re in “one of the most difficult Champions League groups ever”, but we could very well have had 6 points right now.

      1. @bb ,yes you could say for dortmund the same, the amount of great scoring chances wasted is out of this world, they SHOULD get 3 points yesterday

  6. I remember before the season started people where saying how florenzi is useless and brings nothing to the team while has a “high” salary. And now. How the tables…
Just shows majority of fans are ******!

    1. Ikr, both Kjaer and Florenzi face this. Now, florenzi is the best full back in our squad (Yes, he has been better than Theo when he played). I hope Kalulu recovers fast.

    2. Yep. “Florenzi is too old.” “Too expensive.” Probably even too slow too. Should be sold ASAP, right? Yet he is miles ahead of other defenders. Perhaps even more reliable than the CBs. How about that?

      1. Seems like he got his second wind. Pioli should recognise this and use him while he is in red hot form. The inverted fullback role is basically written for him since once upon a time he was a CM

  7. Honestly holding Dortmund at home and playing st least in their level isn’t reason enough for all this criticism.

Not being able to score against Newcastle is something Giroud has in common woth Mbappe.

It IS a tough group, Newcastle, the ‘easiest’ team beat PSG, in style. Let’s see how Newcastle and Dorrmund do against each other while we focus on hammering 4-5 goals past Dollarumma.
