AC Milan captain Davide Calabria has expressed his pride after how the team performed during tonight’s 1-1 draw against Napoli, which sealed an aggregate win.
Milan took a one-goal advantage to the Maradona after Ismael Bennacer’s goal back at San Siro, and it became two goals when Olivier Giroud converted after an incredible solo run by Rafael Leao, with the Frenchman having missed an earlier penalty.
Kvaratshkelia also saw a spot kick saved by Mike Maignan at a crucial time and while Victor Osimhen did level on the night with a header, it was too little too late as the Rossoneri secured their first semi-final birth since the 2006-07 season.
Calabria spoke to Mediaset Infinity after the game to try and take stock of what was an emotional night in Naples that was full of drama, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“I’m really proud of this team. We ran for each other with a spirit of sacrifice. When you perform these performances it is no coincidence that you win even against big teams like this Napoli,” he said.
What would you say to the baby version of yourself?
“To believe in your dreams: if you believe you can achieve anything. I can’t wait to play the semi-finals. I want to play all three games at this point.”
And if you raise the cup…
“I have to, you have to think like this. That’s our goal. It’s right to dream about it. There are teams more ready than us, but it’s a football match. There are three matches and I can imagine being able to lift it.”
After that performance you deserve it my man, you played like, Costacurta and Panucci tonight. Well done Capitan
They all played great, Theo usually is the workhorse , however he was over shadowed by everyone else, every player had their moment to shine. Looks like a derby at San Siro, would give anything to be there, and all yellow cars are reset ! Forza Milano , MOTM no longer is MAN of the match. It is MEN of the match ! And thanks to the Curva Sud for traveling to bring home a victory. Gonna sleep like a baby tonight.!
