Calabria reveals transfer background as ‘Milan never questioned me’ despite offers

Davide Calabria has impressed at the start of this season, regaining form after what was a disappointing 2019/20 season for him. In fact, he could have left Milan this summer as several clubs were interested in him.

The full-back was linked with several clubs, including a few in La Liga, but ended up staying at the club he grew up in. As luck would have it, for Calabria, Andrea Conti got injured and this allowed the latter to play himself back into shape.

In a long interview with today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews.it, the 23-year-old was asked about the rumours. He revealed that he did have a new request, but that a move was never considered.

“I had some calls but Milan never questioned me. Having players who have grown up in the youth sector is important for the club. Even if I’m only 23, it’s essential for the club to have players who know what San Siro and Milanello mean. I thank them for their trust and now I want to show my qualities in the field,” he stated.

Calabria is expected to play from start against Udinese tomorrow at 12:30, hoping to continue his good form now when Conti has recovered. In addition, Diogo Dalot has also performed well, although he also plays on the left-hand side.
