After the heavy defeat against Atalanta at the weekend, Milan will be looking to bounce back with what would be an important win, as they take on Inter in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. Of course, a derby win is always nice.
The Rossoneri made it through to this round after beating Torino, in a game which required a penalty shootout to be settled. This evening, Stefano Pioli’s men will be hoping to do better than their last performance, completely outplayed against Atalanta.
Davide Calabria, who usually is the starting right-back, will be on the bench this evening as Man Utd loanee Diogo Dalot will get the chance. Understandable, not only because the Italian could use some rest, but we haven’t seen much of Dalot on the right.
In an interview with MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Calabria was asked about the game and how it was to play as a midfielder. Due to the injury situation, he was forced to play there a couple of times.
On the match and the need to bounce back…
“The derby is a special match, then tonight it’s also win or elimination. We will give our all and try to bring home the victory in every way.”
On the experience as a midfielder…
“It’s an extra experience that can make me grow as a player. I was deployed there due to injuries but I was ready. When there is a need, I can play there too.”
On Milan and Inter back at the top…
“Seeing Milan at the top of Italian football is positive. The rivalry is good for both teams. Being first and second helps the clubs to grow.”
