Calabria on why Pulisic continued and Cardinale’s words: “Nobody needs to say it”

By Isak Möller -

Davide Calabria spoke to the media after AC Milan’s 1-0 win against Lazio and in addition to the clash, he also shared his thoughts on Gerry Cardinale’s words. He made it clear that the Rossoneri’s history demands them to win, and nothing else.

Milan clinched three crucial points in tonight’s game against Lazio and Noah Okafor was the hero with a late winner, getting the MOTM in our player ratings. Calabria came off the bench in the second half and did okay, but was by no means brilliant.

After the game, as cited by MilanNews, the captain spoke to DAZN and shared his thoughts on the game. Just like Stefano Pioli, he was also asked about the words of Gerry Cardinale, who stated that he and Zlatan Ibrahimovic aren’t happy with the season.

On the game…

“It was a hard-fought victory, but we were interested in the three points beyond the incidents. Let’s talk about football. In football, there are also these situations: it wasn’t a good show for those who follow it, there was a bit of tension and adrenaline in the body…”

Did you talk to Pulisic about the red card for Pellegrini?

“He didn’t notice the man on the ground, he thought Luca Pellegrini was protecting the ball and tried to advance. There was a misunderstanding. Pulisic is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, it wasn’t his intention to do anything wrong.”

How are you?

“I’m getting back into better shape, some more training is essential.”

Comment on Inter?

“There’s little to say: they are having an incredible season and it’s right to compliment them. They are playing good, purposeful football, they concede few goals. Our goal is to stay up front with them.”

Did you hear Cardinale’s words?

“It’s the history of Milan that says that Milan must fight to win every Scudetto and every trophy. Nobody needs to say it: it’s history that says it.”

What is Okafor like?

“He’s a shy boy. If he’s physically well, he can give us a great hand.”

How do you get along with Ibrahimovic?

“It’s still Zlatan. Then he’s in a different role, he’s learning too. With us, he’s more of a manager than a teammate, but then he tells us things when he has to say them like he did before.”

Milan will take on Slavia Praha next in the Europa League and after that, Empoli are up at San Siro. Two wins will be needed to further boost the confidence.
