Caldara admits Milan are ‘the great regret’ that he ‘will have forever’

Mattia Caldara has admitted that failing to make it at AC Milan will always be a ‘great regret’ for him, given the injury problems he suffered.

Caldara is currently on loan at Spezia and has done quite well so far this season, but Milan ultimately still own the centre-back. Despite this, it finally looks like he could leave on a permanent basis at the end of the current campaign given he is not a part of the Rossoneri’s plans, or at least that’s what he has suggested he would like.

Caldara arrived at Milan back in the summer of 2018 but injuries completely ruined his spell at the club. In fact, he made just two appearances for the Rossoneri before he started going out on loan to Atalanta, Venezia and now Spezia.

Caldara spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about his move from Juventus to the Rossoneri, with his comments relayed by MilanNews and translated below.

“I’ve always felt like a football player. At Juve I only did the summer tour in America, then I moved on to AC Milan with Gattuso and there I had physical troubles. Lots of bad luck and pain. Milan is the great regret I will have forever,” he said.
