Hakan Calhanoglu has made the bold claim that he is still well appreciated by the Milan plans after joining their city rivals Inter.
Calhanoglu said goodbye to Milan over the summer, rejecting the contract renewal offered by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara in favour of trying something new. However, any apathy towards the situation quickly turned to confusion when it was revealed that he would be joining Inter.
Of course the Turkey international stayed in Milan and moved to a team that will also be playing in the Champions League, but many saw it as a betrayal after the club stuck by him for four years.
Now, Calhanoglu has publicly explained his decision for the first time during an interview with il Corriere dello Sport.
“Why did I choose Inter? In my career I like to try new challenges and I needed one. In addition, Inter are a good team, they have won the last Scudetto and several derbies since I have been in Italy,” he said (via MilanLive).
Calhanoglu then expressed gratitude to Milan for his time with the Rossoneri, who he joined from Bayer Leverkusen as part of the summer spending spree back in 2017.
“At Milan I spent four important years of my life and career, in fact I left many friends there. There have also been very difficult moments, but in the last two years I have grown a lot thanks to Pioli, they have been better seasons than the first two.”
On his relationship with the Milan fans, he added: “Have they forgiven me? I can say that I often meet Milan fans when I go to a restaurant with my family. They ask me to take pictures and they tell me they love me. I’ve never had any problems with anyone at Milan, on the contrary I still have excellent relations with everyone there.”
Calhanoglu’s mind is on the derby that will happen on 7 November where Milan will be the ‘home’ team at San Siro.
“The derby in Milan is unique, exciting. The Milan defenders know me as well as I know them. It will not be an advantage, I will have to work a lot. Will I celebrate in the event of a goal? If it happens, I will do it as always…”

snake. I respect you because you left. thank god you left
In the full interview he said something in regard of inter selling lukako and hackimi that “The club’s good comes before anything else”. Kinda sounds hypocriitical in my view as he didnt mind to make the cross town move for a bit of extra cash. When left us for free he also at first said that he had to think about his family and then later made it to a question about a new challenge.
Anyways i choose to belive that the milan fans he met simply just was star struck as some people tends to become in the company of famous people. Cant say i miss him and doubt many do,
hakan can say anything that he wants…
he can think that he owns this world
but actually everybody knows that there is no one milan fans missed him like he thought
personally i am glad that he left milan
without him-brahim diaz finds his spot in starting 11
with a great better result 3 times than him
and also with the greater enthusiasm than him
I really dislike this guy! He’s just a traitor….Pls, who interviewed him in the first place?!!!
Buy have a great time Hakan,no one misses you btw
No 1 love you here especially MEEEEE
I pity Milan fans who cried over the departure of this plastic bone playmaker in the first place. All Milan fans in my hood knows how much I dislike him before he left. When the news of his departure broke, I was happy beyond measure. Brahim Diaz always move with the move around him with high velocity not a snail movement of his (Calhanoglu)
Guys guys, they gave us CL-winners Pirlo, Seedorf and Simic & to a lesser extent Zlatan. The least we can do is give them Hakan haha.
LOL. Well said, well said… =)
Hahaha what a delusional steaming pile of s***
Now you’re Inter’s problem. We are happy you left.
i dont miss betrayers
calhagnolu, dollaruma, soon cashie and romagnoli
they are very good player, but it is better to watch people that wants to play for the club
player like tonali, calabria, saeles are very dedicated. kessie used to be too last season, but after transfer talk he become more useless than krunic
não sinto falta de traidores.
It was not a surprised why Milan played badly in the previous seasons before 2020.
It is the type of weak mentality and money infested players the team had them.
Annoyingly, all of them are nobody before Milan made them important e.g Dollaruma, Hakan, Romagnoli, Kessie etc.
Did Hakan think we forward is comment after his first league match for Inter?????
Let him rot in Inter bench for all we care
Interista merde Cao da Belgrado Serbia.Forza grande. Milan.
😂😂😂
He doesn’t know where he went, shinter will useless his remaining terrible career. He thought he was good enough and never knew he was not Milan were patience enough.gattuso and pioli find all the possible way to make him a better player and he think he can pay back with betrayal.he will rot vigorously in shinter
