Calhanoglu previews crucial Cagliari clash: “The only thing that matters today is to win”

By Isak Möller -

Milan will take on Cagliari in less than 15 minutes and with just three points needed to secure Champions League, it’s a huge game for the Rossoneri. Therefore, they will need their key players in good form this evening.

Hakan Calhanoglu is one of the players that need to do well and since he’s in a ‘new’ role, playing out on the left, it will be an interesting game. He’s played there many times before but has struggled point-wise recently.

In an interview with MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, the No.10 spoke about tonight’s game and what it means for the Rossoneri. It could also be decisive for his future, as UCL would give Milan a budget boost for salaries and signings.

“We are very very close to the goal: our fans have been waiting for 8 years, I have been waiting for 4. We are very energised, we are mentally focused on the match and we prepared it very well with the coach and the staff.

“The only thing that matters today is to win. We want to give our fans the Champions League, today we also want to play for our family which has always been with us in this difficult moment. We hope to play as we did in Turin: we did very well, with the right attention. We hope to win today and celebrate together,” he stated.

As said, it’s indeed a huge game for Stefano Pioli’s men and they have everything in their own hands. They won’t get a better chance than this, as they will face Atalanta in the final round.

  1. I am here after the game with Cagliari! I am a big Milan fan since 1991 and this is my second biggest dissapointment after Istanbul with Liverpool. I had a 8 year break from following them and now I just stopped again! Shame on everyone on AC Milan club right now!!!!!
