Inter Milan's Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu

Calhanoglu reflects on journey to Inter and admits happiness in path: “Was not easy”

Hakan Calhanoglu made a move that few have done directly, moving from AC Milan to Inter, and many fans don’t have the best view of the midfielder as a result.

Calhanoglu’s story irritates many Milanisti, simply due to the path it took and the fruits of said path, and the highlight (or lowlight) is him winning Inter’s 20th Serie A title at San Siro against the Rossoneri. A night that still terrors Milan fans.

Speaking at a press conference before the game against Bayer Leverkusen, Calhanoglu reflected on his time after the German club and how it led to his current position, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“After seven years I’m back for the first time, I’m happy because I see my former teammates and the people who worked here, I can’t wait to see them tomorrow.

“There are so many emotions that I have experienced here at Leverkusen in the three years I lived here, then my path in Italy was not easy but I am happy with the path I have taken and I feel happy, I am continuing to improve.”

Since, some have admitted that the Rossoneri lack Calhanoglu, or perhaps a player like him. However, it is unthinkable that he would cross the city once again, despite suggestions that he could once again ‘betray’ his current club and move elsewhere.
