Francesco Camarda would not have celebrated had he scored against AC Milan, he revealed, while the striker was non-committal on his future.
Camarda got the nod to start up from for Lecce during the Coppa Italia defeat last night at San Siro. In truth it was a tough assignment for him given that the Apulian side went down to ten men early in the contest, meaning he got very little service because of the one-sided nature of the game.

What is perhaps a bit more worrying is that Eusebio Di Francesco has been using him less and less in the league. The teenager is struggling to make much of an impact for a side that are currently bottom of the league, though his coach did try take some of the pressure off after the game.

Camarda spoke to Mediaset in an interview that was actually conducted before kick-off. He commented on the opportunity he has at Lecce, with his words relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“I was born in Milan, but now my mind is on Lecce. We came here to play a great game, to try to put everything we have on the pitch. Playing at San Siro is always great, for me and my teammates. I’m confident we’ll play a great match.”
What does the future hold?
“Now my focus is on this year here, whatever happens, will happen. I’m focused here, I want to honor the Lecce shirt and I want to do everything I can to make the Lecce fans happy.”

we ruined the kid. lamine yamal became great because he played in barcelona with the first team. hard to imagine camarda will develop fighting for minutes in a team fighting for relegation.
He should have taken the place of this balentien.
The fact we are talking about Camarda since before we ever heard about Yamal doesn’t mean they are on the same level and should follow the same steps.
First, on sporting side, Yamal is a winger and is completely different profile from a striker. Wish him luck as a striker against Serie A defenders. He would not leave the infirmary. Camarda bulked a lot in the last year but is still bossed around – that is okay – he needs time to develop his body as well, it doesn’t matter if you followed news about him since his pre-primavera. Let him grow – both physically and mentally. Right now he is not ready to play in Milan as a started or 1st sub, which means he would get very limited time during the season. In Lecce he has the chance to get accustomed to the league and play against the best opponents.
On personal side they are also the complete opposites – Yamal is a prime example of a pop star player – big ego, party all night, new girls everyday and midget parties. If he doesn’t change his attitude towards life he will suffer on the field in mid- and long-term. It will be a terrible loss for football in general, because he is a generational talent, but there are way too many examples of legends with their careers ending too soon for the same reasons.
Top comment!!! I will add that if a mistake has been made, it was sending Camarda into the cauldron that will be Lecce’s struggle for survival. This 17 year old should have been down in Serie B with a club that would start him without fear, or even in Serie C. I consider this the big transfer fail of the past window, even over not getting another no. 9 or a top CB.
Yes, he should have just gone to a Serie B team. He needs minutes on the field more than anything else.

we only have one game a week. Kid needs to play and grow. Even if it’s on a terrible side like Lecce. Yamal is a freak and a generational player. Camarda still trying to find his level. Very different scenario.

So far Camarda hasn’t done anything to justify the hype about him. Scoring a lot of goals against other kids is one thing; becoming a top player in high-level football is another.
Well not long ago, only last season, many members here said that we shouldn’t sign any top striker to give room for Camarda within next year or two. Where is that theory now? Lol.
Now that we have Nkunku and Gimenez purchased for 70+M as substitute players for Leao and Pulisic? Well, it’s a completely different conversation.
Different coach, different strategy, different team.
For example in July the quick deal for Ricci looked as a no brainer, but now that we have Rabiot + papa Modric (who is so far the best player in the squad) and since Allegri is madly in love with Fofana and RLC, it’s a different picture. I bet Jashari will be ahead of Ricci in the pecking order as well, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves next season.
leaves ? i think you dont know how old modric is who will retire next season most likely . so he has max 2 seasons if he doesnt want to go back to croation league next season , ricci and jashari are great to play on and off each other like rivals , rabiot will always be there and fofana and rlc they can be great mostly mid, our midfield depth is perfect to be for a chmapions league squad, granted we arent one , but if we were this midfield quality and depth is one of the best in serie a if it isnt already.
to see Camarda got regular playing time it’s good enough 4 me, then next level is scoring regulary even if less than 10/season it’s ok, step by step, take look at Pippo, he learn & never give-up, as a small FW w/ small talent, in a small club in era of great defenders, he made it.
