Camarda named U17 Euros Player of the Tournament – renewal with Milan to follow

By Oliver Fisher -

Francesco Camarda was the star of the show for Italy as their U17 side lifted the European Championship trophy last night, and a renewal with AC Milan is now imminent too.

As confirmed by UEFA last night, their Technical Observer panel selected Camarda as the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship Player of the Tournament, after he netted a brace in the final against Portugal.

It caps a very memorable season for Camarda, who in November become the youngest ever Serie A player aged 15 years and 260 days, while he continued to fire in goals for the Primavera side under Ignazio Abate.

He scored twice in the group stages against Slovakia and Sweden, then in the quarter-finals he converted the winning penalty in the shoot-out against England. He saved his best for the decider with a brilliant brace as Italy beat Portugal 3-0 in Limassol for their first U17 EURO title.

Renewal to follow

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Camarda will soon sign a contract that will tie him to Milan for the next three years, meaning that he will sign a new contract until June 2027.

There had been some doubts expressed by the Italian media about the possibility of him extending, especially given the number of clubs interested in signing him.

However, the information that we have had throughout is that Camarda only ever wanted to renew with his boyhood club. His dream is to go from watching games in the Curva Sud to scoring under it.
