Sergio Conceicao only arrived at AC Milan at the end of December, yet he has made his ambitions for the club clear, and they must be mirrored everywhere.
In recent years, the Scudetto success has looked more like a blip than a sign of where Milan really are. Of course, the memories of that year will never be forgotten, but perhaps it was a step too far too early, which raised expectations higher than could be managed.
For a club like the Rossoneri, the Scudetto is always the aim, but its feasibility can be questioned. In the summer, a step forward was expected, but in the first half of the season, the Diavolo have done anything but that.
With Conceicao now through the door, there has been a restart seemingly. Players seem to have a new level of motivation and this showed in the two Supercoppa Italiana games. However, the new coach is demanding more from his team.
Ahead of the Cagliari fixture, Conceicao spoke to the media and his ambitions were made clear again.
How important is it to keep your feet on the ground right now?
“Certainly. I think that those who are satisfied after a Supercoppa cannot work at Milan. We enjoyed it a lot and deserved it, we are 17 points from the top of the table.
“A club that has won 19 Serie A and 7 Champions Leagues cannot be satisfied with a Supercoppa. We must start winning and convincing starting tomorrow to get as high as possible. The Supercoppa is over.”
This mindset! This guy’s a winner! I love him! I hope the team pulls together! Time to go get ’em!
That’s right Kisu…I’m with you!!
Wow!! Talk about raising the bar…really excited about tomorrow and upcoming games. Looking for FIRE!!
Forza Sergio. Let’s hope that mindset rubs off onto the team and more importantly the management. We needed a kick ass coach for a while now.
His mindset, love it. But what about the mindset of the management
Very good question!
Igbo amaka
Let it go. They are strenghten the team and they do misstakes like everybody else.. doesnt have to question them on every article. Better if you write a letter to them or stand outside milanello and ask them so you dont have to worry anymore.
If only Cardinale and Milan 3 stooges Ibra, Furlani and Moncada had the same ambition as Conceição. What a shame! Smh
Exact right attitude to have. We’re happy about winning the Supercoppa as we should be, but we can’t be satisfied with just that. Milan need to be fighting to win the title, not midtable. Hopefully the ownership get the message and pull it together
ZzzZzzzZzzzzz
Haha Gerry won’t like that! Far too much ambition
Bruuuh I already love the guy
Milan management has no world to hide. At this point they have to completely back Conceicao in the transfer market, as well as in public.
*Has nowhere else to hide
This coach should be milan coach 4 yrs ago and guarantee Milan will ,again, be the team to be feared the most. His psychological mentality is a winner
Not really. Pioli was suitable for improving the squad filled by young players at that time. It worked. Now they’re more mature, they need someone like Conceicao.
Poli didn’t like to develop Milan players. Poli likes to develop other clubs players. Diaz is the classic example of what went wrong.
It’s not Pioli’s fault that Real chose to get their player back. He was on loan. Yes, we helped Real with developing him, but he helped us win the Scudetto and reach the UCL semis. It was mutually beneficial.
Did you know that Pioli had more wins with Milan than Ancelotti, and achieved it in a shorter number of games and with a more modest roster? The last part of Pioli’s tenure was bad but Pioli is a good coach, classy and beloved by the players. We need to acknowledge the good parts of Pioli and the Scudetto and consistent UCL qualifications he won for us.
This said and unlike Fonseca, Conceicao is an upgrade over Pioli.
This Milan club is born to win .
It’s time to get back up and get our winning mentality on….forza Milano 🦅🔥❤️🖤❤️
Buddy if you put action to your words, ill be eternally grateful… but please beware of our circus managers
The supercoppa was a dream everything fell into place milan were very lucky to win against juve their 2 goals were a present ok Nd against inter which were half a team has tge help of the referee otherwise would have lost big so please stop dreaming ok thats why without presents can’t even win against a lowly team at home like Galliary
