At Milan, things are no different. Changes are constant – quite literally – and there is no backbone for the squad to be built upon, really. Indeed, the idea of an Italian ‘core’ feels further away every year and that is frustrating for many.
Capello’s view
For Capello, who has seen what works in Serie A with the Rossoneri and for the fans, there needs to be a move back towards the ‘traditional’ Italian mould of the club, as MilanVibes relayed from his piece in Gazzetta dello Sport.

Hes right thou. Milan need to move back to its italian roots. This is the foundation the club was created on.

If Milan wants more Italian players, there are only two realistic options: increase the budget, because Italian players often cost more for the same level of quality, or be patient and develop young Italian talent.
We have to accept that Milan simply doesn’t have the financial power of the Premier League clubs. We can’t spend like them, so we need either a bigger investment or a long-term strategy focused on developing young players.
This is true. But it can be said that the 105m they’ve spent on Ramos and Gila, could have brought in Scalvini for 50, Palestra or Kayode for 45, Zaniolo for 15, Ahanor for 35, Destiny for 25/30, even Tonali for 100 lol.
For me, it would have been Scalvini, Kayode, Destiny. 15/20m over the 105m spent.
Sales + some counterparts to Newcastle, and Tonali would have been home also.
The problem is the lack of sales. Amorin should have done his due diligence and known exactly who fits the system, and sold those who didn’t in his first week.

I dont agree. If you look at what italian players are sold for to foreign clubs compared to players from Spain, England, Portugal, France, Netherlands, Belgium etc its not higher.
Comuzzo is being bought for 20 mil now
Leoni joined Liveroool for 30-35 mil
We got Ricci for 23 mil
Zaniolo can be bought for around 15 mi
Soule can be bought for around 25 mil
There are plenty of Italian players in positions we want to strengthen for resonable prices, but for some reason we always look abroad.
Then of course we have great talents (or had) like Torriani, Comotto, Liberali, Camarda who still havent been given proper chances (hopefully this change this season with UEFA squad list rules).

The problem with attracting Italian/Serie A talent is not financial. We didn’t overpay for Tonali, Kessler, Krunic, Bennacer, Romagnoli..etc. The problem is Milan has nothing to offer besides money. There is no footballing incentive. Why would players join Milan at this point? They don’t see a project. They see what happened to Maldini and Massara, management and fans turning on Krunic, Calabria, Theo, and Leao. They see the mediocre football, the revolving door of coaches and players, the lack of direction. What did we get selling Kalulu, Thiaw, and Calabria then spending the money on Pavlovic, De Winter, Emerson Royal, and Walker? We are still looking for center backs and right backs

They buy Odogu instead of Leoni. Absolute shambles. They evaluate Musah and Chukwueze instead of going in for Zaniolo and Chiesa. They bought Emerson Royal instead perhaps going for Palestra. They have Ricci, instead they rely on the uselessness of Fofo. And now they have useless, surplus players that they bought without thinking, only to now find it difficult to get rid of. Where is the investment in the Italian players? There isn’t any. There’s nothing wrong with wanting an Italian core at Milan – the club needs it. But they have to be quality players. Gabbia is a rotational player at best. Ricci, isn’t particularly stellar at any one thing, but I’d keep him over Musah as well. The only way we bring in more italians is through need and through Futuro. If anything, I hope Barte keeps developing and Comotto stays.
The main problem is that Milanismo isn’t compatible with what Gerry is doing that’s why he worked hard to destroy what little of it we had left. The man is just trying to get all the pieces in place to sell the d*mn thing with as little to spend in the meantime as possible.
Does Capello give the same interview every couple months or do they just keep referring to the same interview he gave a few years ago.
Como have proven that you don’t need an Italian core to be successful in Serie A. Only in Italy do people still talk this way. Super old fashioned, and perfectly shows why Italy have fallen behind in football
