Former Juventus coach Fabio Capello has likened AC Milan forward Rafael Leao to Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, who is regarded as one of the best few players in world football right now.
Speaking whilst on Sky Sport (via SempreMilan.it), Capello was very complimentary of Leao although it was not exclusively praise for the Portuguese forward.
The Italian explained that Leao can be guilty of chasing his opponent even when he has no hope of winning the ball back, which wastes his energy for attacking play.
“Sometimes he is not careful, he chases the opponent without being able to recover. But at any moment he can decide the match with a goal or an assist,” he said.
He then moved on to the praise and explained how he can be a decisive player in key moments and he even has similarities with World Cup winner Mbappe who plays a similar role for PSG.
“Another important thing: he worries the opponents. He is one of the few players in Europe today who goes off easily in one-on-one situations. In terms of speed and quickness he is like Mbappé,” Capello said.
Leao has not been in his best run of form recently but there are signs he is getting back to his best, which will be crucial to Milan’s season.
Yes, one of 5 players that can just go past players like they aren’t there.
Correction Capello, some stats kids on here think Leao is no good.
