Capello says Leao ‘owes Milan gratitude’ as contract negotiations continue

By Isak Möller -

Rafael Leao’s contract situation has been the main focus for AC Milan over the last few weeks. Negotiations are underway and the hope is that a positive conclusion can be reached, as also argued by Fabio Capello.

Leao is a key player for Milan and it’s not exactly surprising that they are working very hard on a renewal. A significant effort will be made and the hope is that the Portuguese winger will accept the bid.

Speaking in an interview with MilanNews, former Milan manager Fabio Capello was asked about the future of Leao at Milan. He stated that the winger owes a little bit of gratitude to Milan, which Gigio Donnarumma opted to ignore.

“If he has become what he has become, he owes it to Milan, and he owes them gratitude, which Donnarumma ignored. If there’s no more gratitude, nothing else can be said. The player has shown that he’s important. At the World Cup played, he also played with the handbrake on a bit but as soon as he freed himself, he showed off all his qualities,” he stated.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of the negotiations will be but it’s clear that Milan are doing everything in their power to get it over the line. €7m per year has been offered and the feeling is that this could be enough.

Mr Capello spitting facts and i completely agreed with him. The sad thing is there’re some clueless fans who keeps ignoring this facts and put a blame on Maldini.
