Capello on the most negative surprise from Parma-Milan: “Continued to suffer”

Fabio Capello didn’t hold back when asked about AC Milan’s performance against Parma this morning, interviewed by Gazzetta dello Sport. One thing, however, surprised him negatively more than the rest.

Indeed, it was a disastrous evening for Milan as nothing worked, allowing Parma to dominate most of the game. Several of the stars, especially Theo Hernandez, failed to help out the team and this made things incredibly difficult.

When asked about the performance by Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello stated that Milan are lacking the ever-crucial balance. But even so, the thing that surprised him the most was the non-existent effect of the substitutions.

Even with the arrival of Emerson Royal and Fofana, did anything change?

“Here, this is the thing that surprised me the most negatively. Milan didn’t change even with the substitutions and continued to suffer counter-attacks in wide spaces. In fact, to tell the truth, Parma did more damage precisely in the area occupied by Emerson Royal. Confirming that it’s not a problem of men, but of the whole team.”

Milan will certainly have to pick themselves up ahead of the Lazio game next week, which now is a must-win for the team. Heading into the international with zero wins would be a huge disaster for Paulo Fonseca, that’s for sure, and could even put his future in jeopardy.

  1. PIOLI 2.0. LEAO does not respect him. nor does Theo (soon the rest of the team) and if MUSAH, the most regular of the team, does not understand him…. There are serious problems

    1. Theo will hopefully be on the bench for a couple of weeks until he gets healthy…

The team’s defensive movements require an understanding between the players and the trust that they will all do their jobs. That is not built in two games. If Leao isn’t pressing, then the midfield won’t push as they can be bypassed easily with a precise pass, then the defenders are stuck chasing. Its trust between teammates. Right now Leao and Theo are the least trustworthy players on the field…which is unfortunate because they have so much talent.

    2. Musah has football-IQ of zero and has probably never understood what he’s supposed to do on the pitch. Look at any of the matches from last year and tell (where) me he played well. 🙂

  2. We have squad for 3-4-3.

    ‐——————- Maignan—————–

    ——-Tomori—-Gabbia–‘Pavlovic—–

    Emerson– Fofana—Reijnders–Theo

    ——-Pulisic——Morata——Leao——

    Perfectly balanced…

  3. i wouldnt want emerson as a wing back he is very poor attack wise people might think he is good in the attack cause he is brazilian the only posision i would want emerson play is cb that spot should be for salemaekers

  4. We never got a full preseason game or scrimmage with anything like our current squad.

It will take a few weeks. My question is, what is happening to Theo? Sit him until he is rested enough to play like a man.

  5. I think Ac Milan have to reason right now and find a better replacement for the coach instead of waiting until things go extray before thinking how best it will be too late so it is better now than later
