Capello names the ‘biggest mistake’ Milan could make against RB Salzburg

Former AC Milan head coach Fabio Capello has warned Stefano Pioli’s side about the one big mistake they could make against Red Bull Salzburg tonight.

Milan have been handed a group which is on paper more straightforward than the one they got last season when they faced Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Porto, but there is no such thing as an easy game in the Champions League given that each side is very much there on merit.

Interviewed by Il Messaggero, Capello talked about the first challenge of AC Milan’s Group E campaign that will see them face Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena tonight, with his comments relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“Salzburg are an uncomfortable opponent, they are a team full of young players, they play football at a hundred miles an hour. AC Milan’s biggest mistake would be to face him with arrogance after the success in the derby,” he said.

Capello knows what it takes from a mentality standpoint given he won four Serie A titles with Milan but also most notably the 1993–94 UEFA Champions League, defeating Barcelona 4–0 in a game where Barca certainly underestimated the Rossoneri in the build-up to the game.
