“Still in the experimental phase” – Capello offers take on Juventus-Milan draw

Fabio Capello was underwhelmed by the game between Juventus and AC Milan, but agreed with the decision to let the first goal stand.

After a goalless 45 minutes lacking in any real quality from either side, it looked like it was another Juventus-Milan game that was heading for a stalemate. It did end in a draw after all, but there were at least a couple of goals in the final quarter of the game.

Alphadjo Cisse got the first of the night having come off the bench. He collected a cross from fellow substitute Samuel Chukwueze, cut in on his right and curled a shot past Vicario. In the second minute of added time, Federico Gatti’s header earned Juventus a draw that was deserved in the end.

Capello was a guest on Radio anch’io sport’, a programme on Rai Radio 1. He offered his take on the game last night and the officiating display, with MilanNews relayed his words.

Fewer whistles, more goals. After three Serie A matchdays, this is the first result of the new direction indicated by referee designator Daniele Orsato: fewer VAR interventions, no penalties…

“It’s about time, it’s about time there were fewer whistles, avoiding rewarding simulations, shouting when someone is in a tackle. Finally, we see more play, in a more enjoyable manner.

“We see many more players with cramp. This is due to the continuity of the game, which is faster and more aggressive.”

So far, an average of three goals have been scored per match…

“If you constantly stop the play, the team positions itself on the defensive. Conversely, there’s the possibility of going on the attack right away and the opponent isn’t ready.”

What did you think of Milan at Juventus…

“[Milan are] still in the experimental phase. They need to understand what coach Amorim wants. I was hoping for something more from Juventus, however. We still haven’t seen the determination and fluidity of play that Spalletti would like. These are two teams that, for now, aren’t dominant.”

  1. Is that what we are going to be doing each season? Milan should have been a great settled club by now like inter instead of every season different phase and by the time the team is getting momentum a new coach new players comes and we go back to rebuilding and start a different phase

    1. Why go back when you see clearly that the team just entered new phase. I’ll say let the season end and then we can all talk !

  2. I think with a fit pulisic we could be decent. Our lineup should be:
    Ramos
    Cisse pulisic
    Moreira Modric rabiot chucky
    Pav Gabbia Gila
    Maignan

    1. I agree except Jashari for Modric. Luca just doesn’t have the legs anymore. And let’s be honest…Jashari is the future.

      1. Jashari is the fail, not the future. He is so bad 2 managers in a row will rather play 41 year old Modric for 90 minutes. After last night’s game Jashari will play even less. 0 of him in 15 minutes. Juventus killed us. Stop hyping the guy that can be a 4th choice for Milan at best.

        1. My friend our last and current coach prefer Modric because of his class – a world class and legend player despite age. Jashari is not yet a complete product, but he has talent (otherwise Amorim will add him to selling list), and for a young talent, we need time and patient. Look at CDK and Paqueta, we have a lot of lessons

    2. Ramos
      Pulisic – Hutchinson
      Moreira – Rabiot – Jashari – Chucky
Pavlovic – De Winter – Gila
      Maignan

      P.S.
I don’t know if it’s just me who feels Gila is overrated though. Except for a few times, I almost certainly feel nervous when he goes into a tackle or when an attacker tries to beat him.
Maybe I’ll grow to like him, but I have never seen anything spectacular about him since his Lazio days.

      1. Absolutely nothing against Alpha though… super sub status and impact bench player status should suffice for now.

Camarda also needs minutes to relief Ramos as the game wears essentially to avoid accumulated fatigue quite early on in the season.
