However, football is played out on the field and the Rossoneri’s recent form – with just three wins in their last nine games – suggests they could make things difficult for themselves. The live table will no doubt add its own pressure as scores from the other fixtures come in, too.

“It might seem that way, but the final day has its pitfalls. You always have to factor in potential surprises, and avoiding them requires a lot of planning.”

“The Giallorossi hold their fate in their hands, but relegated Verona can’t be trusted because they can play with their heads clear. Unexpected performances can emerge without any worries.
“So, don’t let other thoughts or performance anxiety get the better of you. History is full of matches that ended differently when they seemed predictable.”
Como and Juventus are on the outside looking in…
“On paper, Milan also have qualification in hand and depend solely on what they can do against a safe Cagliari, who have nothing to lose at San Siro and will do what they can with a lifted spirit.
“Como faces Cremonese, who will do everything they can to win to try and stay up, although it won’t depend solely on the Grigiorossi. Juventus has a derby that’s a story in itself. It’s clear that for the Bianconeri, on paper, the situation is the most complicated.”
