Tuttosport: Cardinale considers making budget available as Chelsea winger remains a target

AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale is now considering bringing forward some of the funding planned for the summer window to try sign a new forward this month, a report claims.

After the purchase of goalkeeper Devis Vasquez from Club Guarani, Paolo Maldini and Stefano Pioli both declared the incoming transfer market closed, insisting that no more business will be done and that the focus was on getting injured players back.

However, Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report that the team’s performances and their dreadful start to 2023 – which has already seen two trophy chances vanish – could push Cardinale to consider advancing part of the summer budget to this winter transfer market.

At the end of January, for example, the name of Ziyech could come back into fashion. He was struggling for playing time with Chelsea before the window reopens, but the signings of Joao Felix, Mudryk, Fofana and Madueke threaten to even further limit his chances.
