It seems that Gerry Cardinale is now the one with complete power at AC Milan, with all decisions made by him moving forward.
Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty said about the power structure within Milan. Zlatan Ibrahimovic seemingly played a large part in the decision made by Ralf Rangnick to not join Milan and there has been plenty said about the relationship between Cardinale and him.

Now, it seems that they are still on good terms. However, Cardinale appears to have made a decision moving forward.
Cardinale in complete control
According to this morning’s edition of CorSera, as MilanNews relayed, the American has now decided that he will be ‘alone in command’. Decisions will be made by the American and the American alone, but he will consult those around him.
There will be ‘senior advisors’ to help, and Ibrahimovic will sit in this role as a ‘consultant’, but the final calls will be made by the American. Of course, this doesn’t mean that he will go out and make decisions without any help.
Whether there will be different layers of consultations, perhaps from Markus Krösche, the expected arrival to become the Head of Football, remains to be seen.
However, it would appear that the process has become more streamlined after the difficulty of recent weeks.
As the owner, he always had the final say. I just think that media was trying to stir the controversy around the club.

I agree 100%, in what planet on a billion dollar business the owner does not have the final say based on feedback he gets from his team. I think what’s changed is that information is tightly controlled by Cardinale and the team, and media is dying to write about it and make some money therefore they stirr things up.
It is pathetic how anti Cardinale is all this where in fact we have a common goal and that is to make Milan number 1 team in the world again.
On top of it, you have almost an orchestration of some individuals here where no matter what, it is all bad decission, and when they are constructive enough and suggest something, we would be relegated to Serie D consecutively. Obviously never managed anything in their life, and plenty of time and monopoly money to make statements here.
But we have visible outcomes to examine:
Star Players sold and replaced with 3 or 4 mediocre players.
Players bought after protracted transfer sagas only to be sold/loaned out 6-12 months later.
4 Managerial sackings in 2 years.
No UCL in 2 years.
Fan protests.
None of that is media bluster, it all happened.
So, it all either was “decision by committee”, and if there is any truth to this article then maybe things will actually improve.
Or – as you suggest, Gerry has always maintained absolute power, and has made ALL the bad decisions himself. In which case, god help us!
Who denies any of that? No one. Not a single person blindly defends Cardinale, everyone who posts here is critical of something. What isn’t true:
The club are cheap – when in fact they’re the biggest spenders in the league
lack ambition – an absurd claim given they keep spending money and hiring and firing players and coaches
And the prejudiced crap about American owners, who happen to have enjoyed great success with various clubs in major European leagues in recent years.
Fans who make those claims are simply dishonest and dishonesty shouldn’t be tolerated.
I’m struggling to find the criticism in Milanezi’s post but that’s irrelevant…
The roll-call of poor outcomes I listed wasn’t about anyones denial, it was to reinforce the point that if those outcomes have been reached in absolution by Cardinale, then Milanezi’s view that Cardinale has a “common goal…to make Milan number 1 team in the world again” is obviously doomed to fail if he continues to wield such absolute power, given what a poor decision maker he is.
I never said the club were cheap and have actually acknowledged many, many times how much money they’ve flagrantly wasted.
I was making a general point. Yes, you may not have been one of the posters who lied about the money being spent, but that has been a narrative here for years.
Cardinale has absolute power, but the coach picks the team and tactics and the SD deals with transfers. Cardinale doesn’t interfere on that side. He was mostly an invisible owner in any case until fans started complaining.
Tare and Allegri were safe hires, things didn’t work out. There was too much of an overreaction. All they should have done was hire Glasner and let him work with Tare.

Yep. Cardinale doesn’t understand the sport so mistakes are to be expected. I personally don’t think Furlani was the issue people think he was, but if Cardinale felt he had to go then so be it. I hope he just concentrates on what he’s good at – the new stadium.
Zlatan hired Fonseca, then Conceicao – both disasters. No consequences.
Zlatan headed the January mercato with Joao Felix, Walker and so on. Complete disaster. No consequences.
Zlatan created a locker room debacle in the last few months, leading to complete disaster. No consequences.
Zlatan refuses to work with competent people who want more influence over the sporting project, leading to failed negotiations and missed opportunities. I guess we could attribute that to Cardinale’s “vision” in general, but still – disaster without consequences.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure there hasn’t been a more influential person within this club for years. He is at the bottom of literally 90% of the actual stuff that’s important football-wise. The end result is clearly visible on the pitch.

Zlatan hires Kirovsky for the Futuro, fires Abate, makes sure his kid plays more often (a shameless, blatant case of nepotism). The result – relegation to Serie D, zero development of talents or methodology. Disaster. No consequences.

No consequences? In that winter, Ibrahimovic disappeared and Furlani was put in charge. We barely heard a word from Ibrahimovic him for about a year. He only reappeared after we hit bad form in late spring.
