There could yet be another twist in AC Milan’s sporting director pursuit as Gerry Cardinale reportedly spoke with Fabio Paratici.
Paratici appeared all set to become the new director, but when the negotiations to define his appointment were coming to an end, things came crashing to a halt early this month.
The reasons for the collapse in talks have been debated. Some stated things took a negative turn when they learned about his limited operability, while there was talk of pressure from Italian football’s governing body, the FIGC.
According to what is now being reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, there was in fact a video call yesterday between Paratici and Cardinale, the RedBird Capital founder and Milan owner. It is defined as a ‘new exploratory contact for a path that could reopen’.
Moreover, Radio Rossonera are reporting that Cardinale’s meeting with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Giorgio Furlani on Easter Friday was not the only one that he had during his visit to Italy.
They state that three days later, on Easter Monday, Cardinale met Fabio Paratici on Lake Como. The presence of other figures is not excluded, but the presence of those two is certain. Now, we wait for further updates on a never-ending saga.
All these articles are probably bullock, but the fact that we have yet to hire a sporting director even though we spent MONTHES talking to candidates most certainly mean that RedBird and the candidates aren’t satisfied with one another.
This is just my guess but I assume that the SD (Tare, Paratici, D’Amico,…whoever) wants more control and more power than what RedBird is willing to give him and that Furlani and/or Cardinale probably want yet another puppet à la Ibrahimović who will follow their core principles.
In any case, until proven otherwise, this RedBird era might end up as bad as Yonghong Li’s sports results wise. Let’s hope we’re somehow saved by 2026.
Who knows if this “report” is true, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Like I said, these idiots are going to keep faffing about, despite the fact that they keep saying they want a DS to begin work ASAP, and that Paratici was disqualified because he is suspended until July 20. The summer will start and there will be no DS. Then suddenly on July 20 they will announce Paratici. Any work done in the market until then, if any work is done, will be done by the current bunch of incompetents. In other words, we’ll be behind the 8 ball once again this summer.
Sure, great idea. He can’t even work until mid-July. Not like Milan needs a new coach before then or the market will have been open for a month or anything important like that.
Why not wait another couple of months? What could possibly go wrong??
We need whoever can quickly sign Coppola, Comuzzo, Ricci. Moncada can handle Mikautadze if given only that as focus. we would then need only vice-Pulisic…
This shows how incompetent Milan owner and management are. These bozos don’t know that Paratici is banned until July and further ban from football is possible because he still has other court charges pending.
But yet they are still pursuing a known criminal who has a record and charges still pending in the court to become Milan Sporting Director? Unbelievable. You can’t make this sh!t up. Smh
I said it, they want to delay the appointment to not spend a dime this summer. Every year there is an excuse to put transfers to the last week of the window in hopes of cheap bargain. They won’t spend more than 20 million above incoming transfers this offseason because they got ousted from the CL.
I told you, in the end they’ll just promote Kirovski from Futuro.
Trollolololol what even is this. Please stop
