Cardinale offers message to the fans before Inter-Milan: “It is our duty”

Before the derby, AC Milan’s owner, Gerry Cardinale, spoke to the media, and he offered a message to the AC Milan fanbase about his, and the club’s duty.

In many ways, Cardinale is a controversial figure for Milan. For some, he has taken the club backwards. Others do not see it in the same way. However, the American owner has been on a mission to develop the club in recent years.

The main priority for the RedBird owner is to create a new stadium for Milan, with the goal of ‘doing what the Yankees did‘ – leaving their old, iconic home to a new one with higher revenue opportunities. With the Rossoneri and Inter both deciding against the current San Siro renovation plans, it seems this plan could happen sooner than imagined.

When speaking at the Giornata dello Sport Italiano nel Mondo conference in New York, Cardinale offered a message to the fans, explaining his current aims and an update on how he will communicate.

The fans…

“In America, the person who spends the money to buy the teams is the team owner. In Italy, I think the fans believe that the team is owned by them and we have a job to do to satisfy this concept. But what I’m trying to do, and I’m not getting much help in the Italian ecosystem, is a partnership between all the participants in the value chain: the fans, the local government, the national government, and the capital to build our infrastructure.

“We have the European Championship coming up in 2032. I’m trying to make a stadium in Milan and with that, there should be a wave of improvements throughout Serie A, so that we become more competitive.

A message…

“My message to the fans doesn’t seem to be working, so I would say the message to the fans is that I won’t give you any message until we win. Because I understand that is the only thing you are interested in. But I will do my job and we will do everything we can to win. But win intelligently. And if I do that, we will be long-lived. And we will contribute to the growth of the whole ecosystem, as I believe is our duty.”

  1. A Yankee who started watching football last year thinks he knows football better than us. Leaving a project half-way built is not a good business neither in Italy nor USA… We need final 3 players: RB, CM/CDM, ST

RLC, Bennacer and Terracciano can finance said deals, the latter being a leeway with additional fee for the RB signing, for instance Kayode. If the management has any brain cells left, they can use Pioli card to get good money from Saudi for Bennacer and maybe Origi can also follow as well. EPL team would sign RLC for 20-25M. that’s already a 50-75M budget.

And since we changed to 4-4-2, a player like J.David that can play both Morata and Tammy roles and was coached by Fonseca can be a cheap yet significant boost. so even if you have to spend extra 15M in January you have to spend it, cause in the summer you are getting upto 40M and only player we will sign (if no one leaves) is Tammy for around 20M.

But you will bring 3 players that are U-15 M and take the 40M as your own profit…

    1. “and take the 40M as your own profit…”

Aaaaaand here’s how one admits they know NOTHING about how clubs and their finances go. You REALLY think Cardinale can/could (even if he wanted to) take 40M€ from the club just like that?????? Oh I see you do. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

  2. Without the fans you would hire Lopetegiu.. dumbass. Fans don’t listen because you don’t know how to run Ac Milan.
Milan have always had couple great players in Italian national team.
You turn is to Inter that’s why we dont listen.
You lie about wanting to win and take Milan to former glory. How? We dont have great Italians like our former glory.
You are cheap and in our former glory Berlusconi brought the best or turn them to the best.
I wonder how you gonna bring the best to win and take us to former glory through buying them under 20 mil and give them under 5 mil a year salary.
Jerry Cheapinale is truly a fraud and a clown.

    1. And i think you are a bit of racist. All great teams of Milan for some of us who do remember were build smart and had both Italians and foreigners in there.

If you want just Italians, there are some places that offer houses for 1 Euro, so go there my friend where you belong

  3. Inters tactics are hard to read man!
Who noticed this funny detail during the game: Acerbi made a run into our box, Bastoni was at left wing and made the cross into the box, that went all the way into the opposite side where Pavard recieved the ball as a right wing.
Thats all 3 of their CBs pulling out an attacking move.

I was like, who are they deffending with???
That is some next level tactics by Inzaghi, no doubt! But Gabia punished them in the end.

    1. Yes, I noticed that too – Bastoni has always done this, that’s why he fits well into a 3CB defence. But the other two I wasn’t expecting to be forward so much – genuinely if you want to see a team that did it before, Sheffield Utd under Chris Wilder used the CBs to move into wing space if the wing backs were covered.

I think this was after Darmian came on, who was quite content sitting back, and Di Marco was covering the other side.

  4. It’s OK not to know the intricacies of Italian ways. One would think Gerry would have done the homework to know what he’s up against. But hey too late for that.

But at this point, don’t double down on the fact that you have so much to learn. Hire people under you that know this league and bureaucracy better that you and know how to navigate it.
